Mega Man Star Force 3 is the latest game in the Mega Man Star Force saga from Capcom, exclusively for DS. The game is scheduled for a 2008 release in Japan and does not yet have a release date outside The Land of the Rising Sun.
In the sequel to Mega Man Star Force 2, a new breed of electromagnetic lifeforms called Wizards will play an integral role in the game and are apparently throw-backs to the NetNavis that appeared in the Mega Man Battle Network series. Wizards can also materialize in the real world with the aid of the Hunter VG, a device that replaces the previous game’s Star Carrier (which in turn replaced the Wave Transer from Mega Man Star Force 1).
The Hunter VG was developed by Shid Akatsuki, a Zero Satellite Police member, who has his own Wizard named Acid. Solo also now has a Wizard named Laplace, and Omega-Xis, Lyra, and Taurus are able to substantiate as Wizard-like beings thanks to the Hunter VG device. A promotional image released by Capcom also revealed that Luna and Zack would be partnered with Wizards named Mode and Pedia respectively. The image also confirming that Geo’s father will play a role in the game.
Dengeki Online revealed a shadowy image of Mega Man with a strange design on his left arm that resembles the Omega-Xis, and could possibly be an effect of the Hunter VG. Meanwhile another report by ITmedia details the Hunter VG device. This device will allow users to perform an EM Wave Change with their Wizard partners after a security lock is released on the device by the Zero Satellite Police. It also confirms that Mega Man Star Force 3 will have its own transformations, in the same vein as the previous games Star Force and Tribe On transformations.
As far as battles are concerned, they now take place in a viewpoint from the side, like in the Battle Network series, as opposed to the third-person angle used in the last two Mega Man Star Force games. It is not known if this viewpoint replaces the old one, or if it’s simply an additional camera angle.
Plot
A large meteor known as Meteor G is on a collision course towards Earth, emitting waves that make a strange noise. This noise causes mutations on some of the Earth’s lifeforms. However Mega Man can collect this noise, and if he collects enough he can “Noise Change”, and mutate into forms reminiscent of FM-ian bosses that you faced in the last two Mega Man Star Force titles.
Transformations include: Cygnus Noise, Gemini Noise, Ophiuca Noise, Taurus Noise, and Libra Noise, however many more transformations exist including an “Ultimate Transformation” that is yet to be revealed.
