Sonic and The Black Knight has been revealed as a Wii-exclusive follow-up to Sonic and the Secret Rings in which Sonic wields . . . a sword. As you can see by the Nintendo Power-reveal which features the game on the cover.
At this point no information is known about the game. But it should be rather obvious that Sega will probably be making use of the recently revealed (at E3 2008) Wii MotionPlus accessory to give Sonic that much more realistic sword-swinging action than could be had without the device.
I’ll save my judgment on this idea until I at least see screenshots, but it must be said that Sega is really pushing the limit of what fans will accept when you start handing Sonic a sword . . . . We all remember what happened when Sega gave guns to Shadow the Hedgehog, so let’s hope this game plays better than we imagine it will.
