Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars for DS was announced at E3 2008 during Nintendo’s Pre-E3 Press Conference.
The game is being developed by Rockstar Leads studio in conjunction with the series creator Rockstar North and will be available this Winter.
Chinatown Wars is an all-new game in the franchise and it brings a new level of interactivity to the sprawling open-ended environment by use of the touchscreen on the DS, which players use to navigate their way through the city streets as they try to uncover the truth behind an epic tale of crime and corruption within the Triad crime syndicate, just as you’d expect from a GTA title. This tale, they assure, will deliver the unprecedented amount of depth that has become a hallmark of the series.
“This is a game that will deliver a rich, fast-paced and intense ‘Grand Theft Auto’ experience that will be truly unique to Nintendo’s handheld platform,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “Rockstar Leeds, along with the team at Rockstar North, has built upon a decade of progressive design on Grand Theft Auto, and has created something fundamentally fresh and immersive.”
No screenshots or videos for the game have been released yet, but we’ll be sure to post them as soon as they are available.
This game just seems like a joke. GTA for a Nintendo handheld? Chinatown? I can’t imagine that it’s a FPS on the DS.
Early reports indicate that it’ll be a top-down game, like the GTA titles before Grand Theft Auto 3 and like their last Nintendo handheld GTA which was Grand Theft Auto Advance.
Although nothing has been confirmed, but I’m pretty positive they’ll go with the top-down view. I also laughed at the “Chinatown” subtitle . . . I guess we’ll have to wait and see if it’s any good. But a GTA game for a Nintendo system is always a good thing I think. If not just to have more M-rated games for the system.
hey
Hey, what’s up?
