First Star Ocean: The Last Hope gameplay video from E3 2008
Star Ocean: The Last Hope is the long-awaited continuation of the celebrated science fiction and fantasy RPG series that finally brings the franchise to the next-generation.
Slated for release on Xbox 360 (exclusively for the foreseeable future) in 2009 and published by Square Enix (tri-ACE is developing), this prequel set during the aftermath of World War III and combines sci-fi and fantasy elements spanning multiple planets and the vastness of space itself to recount the origins of the Star Ocean universe.
Star Ocean: The Last Hope will feature a four-player battle system that’s more team oriented. The main character’s name is Edge Maverick and the heroine of the story is Reimi Saionji.
As you can tell from the trailer, the game is much more sci-fi than in previous titles and will even allow players to control their own ship. The ship itself will be huge and you will even be able to land it on at least 5 different planets or other space destinations.
