Star Fox Wii promised by series producer Takaya Imamura

Star Fox characters are playable in Super Smash Bros. Brawl on Wii
Nintendo game designers including Shigeru Miyamoto have hinted at a Star Fox Wii sequel during past interviews. To quote Miyamoto in a 2006 interview: “The Wii controller could be easily used to control the airwing in Star Fox.” While that may seem obvious, as Spong who translated the Famitsu interview says, why would Miyamoto even bother mentioning it unless Nintendo was already planning Star Fox Wii over two years ago.

Following later that year was a Nintendo of Europe interview with Star Fox Command (DS) producer Takaya Imamura, in which these further confirming words were published…
Question: “Star Fox would be perfectly suited to Wii’s controls. Are we ever going to see a Wii version?
Answer: “I wonder how the adventure of Fox and friends is going to go next time?! I have come up with some idea in my mind, but it is still just a small one. I will try my best so that I can deliver it to you some time!

Keep in mind there are no Nintendo titles announced yet for the second half of 2008 and beyond. Add to this that recently Marc Franklin, director of public relations at Nintendo, told Gamepro that Nintendo “will be announcing several new titles that core gamers will be interested in around the time of E3.” — Since a Star Fox sequel on Wii is a shoe-in, expect the action-shooter title to be unveiled by Nintendo at the E3 Summit 2008 on July 15-17th.

PS: With Shigeru Miyamoto commenting that the past F-Zero and Star Fox collaborations with outside development houses (in Star Fox: Assault’s case Namco) turned out to be a disappointment for Nintendo, Star Fox Wii will likely be internally developed at Nintendo. To quote him: “consumers got very excited about the idea of those games, but the games themselves did not deliver”.

I would have to agree with everyone and disagree with everyone, the original gameplay and plotline of starfox(including starfox 64) was by far better than that of adventures, assault and command, and although i believe command was a huge step back, i don’t believe that assault was the worst in the series, I believe that assault, as well as adventures was simply bringing something new to the table that we simply didn’t expect, just as their was debate on starfox 64 moving from the air to the sea and the land, we yet again are angry that the starfox team is taking the next step, and getting out of their vehicles to combat the world from a different perspective. this view simply expresses more strategies, and even if you don’t want to believe it, it would get rather boring piloting an arwing through all five of these games all the time. I suspect that all of us hated one of the starfox games, in my case it was command because of its sad attempt to finalize a great series, while others will say it is starfox 64 as it tore apart from the original gameplay, and then others will hate adventures due to the fact that you are rarely in the air for more than a minute or two, and then assault because andross was never reappeared, or its story was too short, too easy or too differential. THe point is that we can’t agree on an arguement, because we all have different beliefs, but we can agree on hope. hope that the next installment (if their is a next installment) will be something that will truely shock us. whether it is in the sky, on the ground, has the return of andross, or a leering battle against star wolf, we can hope that it will please everyone in someway, and we won’t find reason to nitpick at small flaws in the game if we look at the game as a whole, and possibly the perfect ending to this treasured series.

All the Starfox series are pretty good, even adventures. My favorite is assault. Don’t ask me why. I heard that the next issue of Nintendo power is going to feature some info about the new Starfox Wii game. It’s called Starfox Wii: Battle for Corneria. The Starfox series isn’t like the Mario or Sonic games. They only focus on making good games. So they take their time. It may explain why there are only 5 games yet. That’s all I got. Hope your glad.
