Way of the Samurai 3 is coming to the PS3 and is in development by Acquire, the same company that is developing Tenchu 4 for the Wii. The Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu got first details on the next game in the Way of Samurai franchise.

According to the magazine, Acquire is using the PS3 to update not only the game’s visuals, but the gameplay systems as well. Primary improvements include high level AI for characters.

A new system is being worked into the game that lets players influence the storyline by the actions they take. During certain events, you’ll occasionally see icons pop-up on the screen, indicating that you can use your weapon during the event. Based on your actions, you could end up creating more enemies, so you’ll have to determine when it’s best to use this.

Way of the Samurai for PS2Joining the PS3 title later this year in Japan will be a PSP version of the original Way of the Samurai. Titled Way of the Samurai Portable, this port of the PS2 classic includes ad-hoc wireless play, allowing two players to make use of their favorite characters in free battle. The PSP title will also include characters from Way of the Samurai 3. It will also include a trailer for Way of the Samurai 3.

Unfortunately early screens of the game point to a very low-budget look with graphics more in-line with a PS2 game than a PS3 one. — Via IGN
