Play The Sims game online before it closes on August 1, 2008
Back in 2002 The Sims Online game (download link) for PC gave fans gameplay similar to The Sims in a persistent online world that lets you share the Sims experience with others. Play was free, although there’s a paid subscription for $10 in America and €11/£8 in Europe.
But did you know since February 27th, 2008, The Sims Online was renamed to EA-Land? However, now the MMOG is scheduled to be shut down on August 1st, 2008. As of the 1st of May 2008, the community started a Player Campaign to keep the game alive. Apparently ideas by fans range from quadrupling the Sim population to making an offer to buy the game from Electronic Arts and having a user owned world, one that runs on private servers. The problem with ideas like “buying” the game from EA is that EA owns the rights to The Sims, so this just won’t happen.
