Warcraft 4 release far in the future

Blizzard’s VP of game design, Rob Pardo, was asked about the possibility of the developer creating the next Warcraft 4 real-time strategy (RTS) game in the popular series. While the MMORPG World of Warcraft has over 10 million subscribers, the franchise started out in the RTS genre, so will it be returning to its RTS roots? In an interview from last year he answered:

“Yeah, of course there’s a chance,” he confirmed. “The way that we develop things, each time a development team becomes available, because they’re done with creating the games that they’ve been doing, they have a lot of say over what their next game is. So what it would take is for one of our teams to decide that they want to make Warcraft RTS and of course, there’ll be some talk about doing that and I’m sure after StarCraft 2 ships, it will be one the ideas on the table for that team to do, but that’s pretty far off in the future and it would really be determined by a combination of the dev team and the company leadership.”

Mr. Pardo continued: “I think that one of the things that makes us ultimately successful as a company is that we’re more lead by our game-making decisions and not so much by business decisions, which is one of the reasons why this question used to be the StarCraft question. Back when we did StarCraft, we did Brood War, and everyone thought they were amazing games; they were successful and I used to get all these questions like, “Why are you doing another Warcraft RTS, shouldn’t you be doing StarCraft?” Well Warcraft was what the team wanted to make, they were burned out on the StarCraft universe, that was the game they wanted to make and as far as Warcraft goes, we love the universe – it’s an amazingly successful universe. If we want to go back and do it, maybe we will, maybe we won’t.”

I hope they incorporate a playable Gnoll race. Or perhaps Merlocs.

i think that they should add as many playable races as possible as some people profer differnt races and stories that they often do not get to see in the warcraft universe

I think wc4 would be something more people would be playing because if you look at the ppelrs on b.net on wc3 frozen throne, or wc3 rieng of chaos, its quite full will people and if u got millions playing a game then your going to have millions wanting a change in the game they injoy which in end will attract more users and then blizzard’s success rate will go up even more, not like it hasn’t already but i seriously think wc4 would be your greatest acomplishment seeming how i think more play wc3 than WoW to be honest with you.

i would love a warcraft 4… i didnt really like wow becaus it was 99% fighting and its not as much thinking as warcraf 1-2-3 i am playing warcraft since im 6 (now im a bit older by 6-10 yeaer not saying how much) and i allways liked it
(true that at the begining i did not follow the story line :p )

but i would like to know what arthis is going to do now that he is the king of the world :p

oh well please blizzard make warcraft4 :p ill buy it for shure

i think hes 12 lol… first of all arthas is not king of the world lol.. he is the Lich King, ruler of the undead… and by playing WoW and figuring out he is the MOST powerful being in the universe… but what gives the age away is the name lol… Warscape or Runecraft.. Runescape is a dumb rpg for kids lol, most adults dont have half a clue what RS is lol

Hello. If you do make this I say. MAKE THE RTS BETTER. IN warcraft III the RTS is boring and impossible to beat without cheats. I only play mods because of how terrible the RTS is.

Another WC ? But .. WC3 isn’t even complete yet .. there are still a lot more patches to cover, a lot more imbalances to improve on! =/
