Wario Land Shake Wii details and first screenshots out

Wario Land Shake Wii screenshotsWario Land Shake for Wii was recently announced in a Nintendo of Japan summer games release list and it’ll arrive in Japan next month on July 24th, 2008.

The single player Wii platform game Wario Land Shake will let you play on 20 stages, with locations such as jungle ruins, desert, and ocean. It features hand-drawn animation, a graphical style similar to that of the classic 2D Wario Land games on the GameBoys. So after the last classic game, Wario Land 4 on GameBoy Advance, you could call this Wario Land 5, although it might be a spin-off like the DS game Wario: Master of Disguise.

Wario is controlled with the D-pad and button pressing and by you holding the controller in a traditional way (sideways), as well as shaking the Wii Remote to attack enemies and perform special moves (shake enemies to grab coins, unearth hidden locations, and more). Translation from the Japanese text of the screenshots (click above screenshot to see them all) talks of some sort of throwing mechanic via Wii Remote manipulation. As well the leaflet saying there are vehicles such as rockets and submarines, it seems that the Wii Remote speaker plays a part in vehicles as well.
