Metal Gear Solid 1 remake on PS3 or just a Metal Gear Solid 4 flashback? New trailer mystery

Possible spoilers ahead. A new trailer features footage of the original PlayStation One Metal Gear Solid and the GameCube Twin Snakes remake, Snake fighting in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and new footage of the PlayStation 3-exclusive Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots!

The game’s creator Hideo Kojima himself appears after the unveiling of what could be conceived as either:
1) A Metal Gear Solid 1 remake for the PS3; or…
2) A Metal Gear Solid 4 flashbacks that either shows video or offers playable sequences of Metal Gear Solid 1!

Whatever it is, Hideo’s supposedly not telling for a few more weeks, but the trailer asks “Is it possible to replay MGS!?”

Update May 4th: The latest issue of PlayStation: The Official Magazine has some more info about the flashbacks. To quote: “As characters talk and reference other stars of this universe, you may see an X or L1 button icon quickly flash on the screen. Hit the right button while it’s highlighted and you’ll be treated to a very brief context flashback. Basically, the system uses images and moments from the past Metal Gear games to help visually rekindle your own memories of the who, what, where, and why.” Still no confirmation whether or not the flashbacks will be playable, though.

According to SM2099(who is a major MGS fan btw )

I remember him saying that in the Kojima podcast they said that one could hit some keys and capture flashbacks which would appear when Snake Dies or something like that.

Or it was something while conversations one could time a button nicely and then have a flashback?

This really captured my imagination, I am surprised that Konami would release such a trailer. In anycase this looks fantastic, I wonder what it all means though?

That trailer really made me want to buy a ps3. i know that mgs4 is extrodinary but if mgs1 comes out too that will be awesome.
Hopefully Konami decided to make the game.

Yeah hope they make a remake of metal gear solid 1 on ps3 with a ps3 graphic.
