How to unlock all Gran Turismo 5 Prologue bonus cars and events (walkthrough included)

I see a Ferrari F2007 in your future
Since the PlayStation 3-exclusive driving simulator Gran Turismo 5 Prologue isn’t exactly clear on how to unlock all bonus cars, the following short overview will show you.

Successfully complete the indicated task to unlock the corresponding car:

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue for PS3* BMW Concept 1 Series tii ’07: Win all B Class races.
* Daihatsu OFC-1: Win all C Class races.
* Ferrari F2007: Win all C, B, A, and S Class races.
* Nissan GT-R Proto ’05: Win all S Class races.
* Nissan Skyline Coupe Concept ’07: Win all A Class races.

There are also S Class events to unlock:

Watch the Ferrari F2007 in action at Suzuka with cockpit view.

Preword
——-

Gran Turismo 5: Prologue is a racing game, as such it is almost impossible to
tell you how to play, and as I am not all that great a player this is doubly so.
This guide is merely a list of Cars, Tracks and Races, the reason I wrote this
FAQ in the first place was to help people with knowing what cars were needed to
finish the game, for those who don’t know, several races require one car and you
will need to purchase them with if you want to progress the game.

I may also include settings and possibly controls (and my variation) but no
promises on either.

Features/General Info 1.0
——————— —

As you have probably noticed Gran Turismo 5: Prologue contains some new
features from it predecessors, you will also notice it is nothing like the Gran
Turismo(4): Prologue.

Differences from Gran Turismo(4): Prologue
-Selectable Races. (No longer just a series of driving tests)
-Purchasable (Credit System like other GT Games) and Selectable Cars.

Differences from Gran Turismo 4 (and 1,2,3)
-New View. (Cockpit)
-No B-Spec.
-Gran Turismo TV. (More Below)
-Backgrounds.
-Online Play and Ranking.
-Download Top 10 Replays.
-New Cars. (Ferrari)
-New Tracks. (Real-Life Tracks)
-Mission Races. (More Below)

Once you load GT5P (it has a sort of longish install and if you have it online
it will update) you will need to buy your first car, you start with 35,000cr and
access to Class C races, you will need to finish all 10 Class C races with
Bronze or higher to access Class B and the same to access Class A, once all 3
Classes are finished you will gain 3 rewards: Tuning, Ending Movie, and Class S
go to the sections to see more.

Gran Turismo TV is a cool new feature, it lets you access the Opening and Ending
Movies as well as downloaded content, on the 7/4/2008 3 movies were
added/downloaded, they were Lancer: First Impressions, and GT-R The Inside Story
Parts 1 and 2 (of 3, coming soon), these are all presented in HD and look great.

Another interesting add-on is Mission Races, these take the form of a One-Lap
Race where you need to drive a specific car and take it from 16th to 1st (or
2nd/3rd). This can be quite challenging as you will need to utilise all your
driving skill to beat pole position. (My best is 2nd) Also you can only use the
car specified i stock format, no variations or tuning allowed, this applies to
Target Time races too.

Cars You Need to Buy 2.0
——————– —

Before I start I need to point out again that this is for the PAL
(Europe/Australia) release so it may be different on other releases.

I will tell you the Car, Course, Class, Race Type, Price and Penalty Level
(S Only).

Suzuki Cappaccino ’95 Class C Time Target
High Speed Ring 14,600cr 0 (No Penalty)

Mine’s BNR34 Skyline GT-R ’06 Class S Time Target
Daytona International Speedway 200,000cr Level 3

Ferrari F40 ’92 Class S Mission Race
Suzuka Circuit 450,000cr Level 3

Ford GT ’06 Class S Time Target
High Speed Ring 149,880cr Level 3
________________________________________________________________________________
________________________________________________________________________________

Note: The Daytona International Speedway is the Oval Race, the Road Course is
the same general course with variations (tight corners) and you can not use the
“/Tuned” versions of the cars.

Also I would buy the Honda Integra Type R ’04 as my First Car, here are several
reasons, it is one of the fastest cars for Class C and with FF it handles easy
(which is good as most of the Courses are new), it also is affordable as a first
car and lastly it is required for 2 Mission Races.

Classes 3.0
——- —
________________________________________________________________________________

As mentioned earlier, you will need to finish all races to progress from Class
to Class the following is a list of Races according to Class. I will include
Restrictions, Starting Position (##/##), Track and Tyres (without tune) and Prize
Money. Also you unlock several cars upon completion of each Class I will include
all cars in future updates as at this point in time I only have the first
(Bronze) cars unlocked.
Note: Class S is only shown/available after you finish Class A and in Class S I
will include Penalties and Performance Points.

Tracks 5.0
—— —

This Little Section will tell you the Tracks with a few tips (if I have any…)

In the Europe/Australian Version there are 6 tracks almost all are reversable
and some have variations.

________________________________________________________________________________
Daytona International Speedway/Daytona – The Road Course
Location: America

We will start with the Easiest Track the Daytona International Speedway, this
track is a slightly apexed-oval, it is piss easy and it allows you to see
some of the fastest speeds. In it’s basic form it pulls no punches but it has a
Variation, Daytona – The Road Course now things get interesting, this variation
DOES pull punches, it has several sharp turns on tight roads, the difficulty is
quite different where someone like me finds it quite hard some may find it not
so hard, in all an Easy Track normally with a Difficult Variation.

High Speed Ring
Location: Fictional

The next Easiest track is the High Speed Ring, this track is very basic, with a
few turns and a tunnel. Tunnels in GT5P are interesting as when you enter them
the lighting effects change and when you exit them they change as if your eyes
are adjusting the effect on it’s own is the best lighting i have ever seen
(even beats The Darkness), this in turn presents a problem, if not prepared you
can come out of a tunnel blinded temporarily and hit the car in front or miss
the idle line for the turn, it is not a huge problem but presents an interesting
effect. This track is reversable and you will see it often as a bulk of races
take place on it.

Eiger Nordwand
Location: Switzerland

Now we get to the more challenging tracks, the Eiger Nordwand, while many would
say it is more challenging then the others I feel unless you missed GTHD you
should have played this track a fair bit already as it is the track directly
from GTHD. This track is reversable (Uphill/Downhill) and is filled with twists
and turns, a lower geared car will find it a breeze as you will never get up to
high speeds as there is no straight, Drift is also great here if you are skilled
enough

Suzuka Circuit/Suzuka East Short Course
Location: Japan

This Course is pretty tricky with many twists and turns, however due to it’s
easy variation i rank it as lower then Fuji (see below), in the Variation you
will have no trouble with it as it is a few consucutive corners and no real
surprises, in full Circuit it is a different kettle of fish, be prepared for
fast sections that suddenly turn into tight corners, some corners can be taken
at quite high speeds but require tight controlling to make sure you don’t come
off your intended line and into the dirt. Course is Reversable plus Variation.

Fuji Speedway
Location: Japan

This course I would rank as just as tricky as Suzuka Circuit, get ready for
tight corners and fast handeling, one of the hardest parts is judging when to
brake when coming out of the long straight, too soon and you lose time, speed
and position(s) too late and you’ll overshoot the corner, this course is
deceptive at the best of times but tackle it while not in the right frame of
mind and you might as well put on dirt tyres (not included unfortunatly) and
call yourself a rally driver. Reversable.

London City Track
Location: England

This course is by far the trickiest, sure it seems simple but when you add the
speed of the track and many of the corners are almost hairpins you got a
combination for disaster, and if that wasn’t enough it is a street track so it
is tight-as, bewary of this course, it may take a lot of practice to master but
if you have skill it will be not much different to several city courses in older
GT games. Reversable as well.

Tuning 6.0
—— —

This section will cover all the Tuning Options that you will be able to tweak
once you have finished Class S, I will not go into all cars numbers as I will
be here till next christmas if I do, instead I will just give you a general
look at the options available.

The First Set of Options are:

-Power
-Weight
-Tyres (Front/Rear)
-Aerodynamics

Changing these options will have a direct effect on your Performance Points.

The Second Set of Options are:

-Ride Height
-Spring Rate
-Damper
-Toe Angle
-Camber angle
-Brake Angle
-F(ront)/R(ear) Torque Distribution (4WD)
-Max Turning Angle
-Traction Control
-ABS

Changing these options will affect the way you control the car, mostly for more
advanced drivers, but don’t be afraid to play around with these settings.

The Final Set is Transmission:

-1st – 6th Gear (Max Speed + Gear Ratio Shown)
-Final Gear (Gear Ratio Shown)

The Transmission settings can drastically affect your car, caution advised.
