Super Smash Bros. Brawl 2 sequel in the head of series creator Masahiro Sakurai

Super Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai talked about a Super Smash Bros. Brawl 2 sequel at the Game Developers Conference 2008. It’s interesting to hear him say certain features like voice chat were left out because of Wii limitations, but that there were more not included features he thought about added, which he’d like to put in a sequel. What follows are the relevant interview quotes:

Question: What would be that one specific feature you wish you could have added?
Masahiro Sakurai answers: I feel like anything I’ve considered I’m probably going to think about when — I mean if — another game was to come out in the series and so I’d like to keep a lid on that for now. and not disclose anything I’ve been thinking about there.

Question: Have you done everything you can do with the Smash Bros. franchise now? In other words, can Wii owners look forward to a Super Smash Bros. Brawl sequel in the future?
Masahiro Sakurai answers: Well, the series has already had three iterations so I cannot say with one-hundred percent confidence that there won’t be any additional Smash Bros. games ever. But, at the same time I’d really like to note that I feel like with Brawl there are already so many modes and so much to do that it’s really hard to exhaust what you can do with this game. I’m really against the idea of merely creating a sequel that would add modes or increase the number of characters in the roster — all the sort of things that just simply fatten up the game. I’d like to avoid just doing that if a sequel ever came out.

i would like a game like this but for xbox… with characters like beyonetta dante and alex mercer, possible ezio auditore de firenze.. will never happen, will cost far too much money, but it would be epic

Anyway, for SSBB2, they should add in issac from golden sun.. and possible another character from sonic, maybe knuckles? A kanto version of the pokemon trainer? with typhlosion bayleef and totodile?

that’s all i can think of though don’t really play the wii anymore, gave it to my sister, xbox appeals to me more now

the thing is ssbb does not play on some wiis ( like mine ) which sucks and is really annoying cos its a really great game !!!

well is they make a sequel of super smash brothers brawl but coudl be last one i like shadow the hedgehog and silver the hedgehog like secret characters , and Dark Samus appears like a newcomer , and introduce a one more character of metal gear like the boss or raiden i want a sequel i doesn´t matter i could be the last one

i was once reading a nintendo mag and saw future characters in the next game, there will be dr eggman, toad, mega man, giratina, chiki robot, boy and girl from animal crossing and many more (cant remember the rest) oh and little mac (assist trophy)

its just weird how they added snake over megaman ,in the next game i would like to see characters from old snes games that would make sense in the game like earthworm jim or nuckels even tails.it would be nice if the added viewtiful joe as well :}

if theres a sequel i think they should add everyone that ssbb lover said plus squad 7 and the sannin from naruto and goku vegeta gohan and freiza from DBZ (naruto smash would be nine tails, sasuke smash would be CS2 sakura smash would be inner sakura kakashi smash would be sharingan goku smash would be super saiyan 4 or IT kamehameha vegeta smash would be majin vegeta or final shine or something gohans would be super saiyan or manseko friezas would be death beam and jiraiya (back to naruto) smash would be like fox landmaster execpt with gamabunta (there all like landmaster) tsunade would summon katsuyu and orochimaru would summon manda.) (again all for smashes and the sannin smashes would be like the landmaster they set the summon scroll on the ground and ride on their backs until the time is up.

am i the only one in the whole universe who thinks of having a digimon char in brawl i to wanted a naruto char like shippuuden sasuke as secret char and shippuuden sakura and of course naruto as default and maybe one of the storyline bosses could be dina blade i thought that would be kinda cool NOTE-i dont think silver is a ds char so…

I wanna have a new pokemon trainer from Hoenn with a Sceptile Combusken and mudkip and some other solo pokemon like donphan Hitmonlee etc. and put megaman in it and its different kinds……. ohh and a pokemon trainer from sinnoh.. with Infernape prinplup and turtwig or Infernap grotle piplup.. and a johto pokemon trainer with Feraligatr Bayleef and Cyndaquil….
