Super Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai talked about a Super Smash Bros. Brawl 2 sequel at the Game Developers Conference 2008. It’s interesting to hear him say certain features like voice chat were left out because of Wii limitations, but that there were more not included features he thought about added, which he’d like to put in a sequel. What follows are the relevant interview quotes:

Question: What would be that one specific feature you wish you could have added?
Masahiro Sakurai answers: I feel like anything I’ve considered I’m probably going to think about when — I mean if — another game was to come out in the series and so I’d like to keep a lid on that for now. and not disclose anything I’ve been thinking about there.

Question: Have you done everything you can do with the Smash Bros. franchise now? In other words, can Wii owners look forward to a Super Smash Bros. Brawl sequel in the future?
Masahiro Sakurai answers: Well, the series has already had three iterations so I cannot say with one-hundred percent confidence that there won’t be any additional Smash Bros. games ever. But, at the same time I’d really like to note that I feel like with Brawl there are already so many modes and so much to do that it’s really hard to exhaust what you can do with this game. I’m really against the idea of merely creating a sequel that would add modes or increase the number of characters in the roster — all the sort of things that just simply fatten up the game. I’d like to avoid just doing that if a sequel ever came out.

There should be 5 games.

the sequel of brawl could be “SUPER SMASH BROS. WAR” with 60 characters.

and the last one could be “SUPER SMASH BROS. FINALE” with 80 characters.

I am not sure about the number of characters or titles but there should be 2 more.

I belive the sequel to SSBB (if there is one) should include all characters in the previous games. Additional characters should inclide BomberMan, Mega-Man, Crash Bandicoot, additional pokemon from the pokemon trainer, and any other Nintendo favorites based on some kind of poll…. Basic character dupes like Mario and Dr. Mario should be costume changes rather than a whole new character. The Lottery and “Ship” trophy mini-games should both be added to the sequel. As far as the trophys go in this sequel go, the collection should include all Nintendo characters they can get their hands on.

i think that when you choose a costume change it should be the same character just have a number that u choose like for mario it could say 1.mario 2.dr.mario 3.shadow mario and then u can choose the costume color and everything and that way when u change the costume to another one like lets say into dr.mario or shadow mario they will have different moves and final smashes that way it will save more character space on the screen and it will all be on one character just a different look and moves
