The following Bungie developer interview notes are a summary of everything Halo 4 the company talked about or what was hinted at. We dubbed it “The Secret Files” that puts one and one together. Every Halo fan obviously knows the (original) Halo trilogy is over (Halo 3 was left with an open ending). But with Ensemble Studios working on the Halo Wars RTS prequel and an episodic Halo: Chronicles cinematic-game trilogy series still in the works by Peter Jackson, would a Halo 4 FPS really be that far fetched? Time to line up the facts…
July 14th 2006: Bungie audio director, Marty O’Donnell, said at the UK Game Developers Conference that “We all want Halo to be the great ending to an epic trilogy. We look at what Peter Jackson did with the Lord of the Rings films – which each film bettering the previous one and that is what we are aiming for.”
September 25th 2007: At the launch of Halo 3 the cinematic designer, Lee Wilson, said “There’s a lot of people who have been working on Halo much longer than us two have and they’re really interested in exploring new games, new stories, and whatever comes out of those conversations is what we’re going to pursue. We’re still going to make games for us.” And Joe Tung, multiplayer producer, said that the team was “figuring out right now what we’re working on next. We really don’t know what that is yet but as soon as we know, everyone else will know. Halo 4 is not in development.”
October 8th 2007: Halo movie director, Neill Blomkamp, confirmed that the Halo “film is entirely dead,” but consoled fans of the series by mentioning that “Well, we are already at work on another Halo game — I wouldn’t call it ‘Halo 4′, but it is based in the Halo Universe and represents a collaboration between Bungie and Peter Jackson. Halo 3 was definitely not the last Bungie Halo game.”
November 9th 2007: Bungie studio manager, Harold Ryan, mentioned that “Obviously Microsoft wanted us to make more Halo games. Both I and some of the more senior guys from the original Halo game have deep piles of game designs for the Halo universe that we are excited to build at some point. If the stars align and motivations are good and the platforms are right we’ll do them.”
March 2008: Bungie are still supporting the Xbox 360-exclusive Halo 3 with new map packs, as well as the above mentioned two Halo game spin-offs that are set for tentative Q4 2008 releases. It does look like they want to take a break from the series, which might be part of the reason why Bungie became independent from Microsoft. But since money makes the world ago around, and of course fans do want more, it’s doubtful Microsoft or Bungie will want to give up on the Halo series that as of October 4th, 2007, combined sold over 20 million copies worldwide. Perhaps by the time the Xbox 720 launches in 2011-2012 we’ll hear about Master Chief’s comeback in Halo 4.
Microsoft’s Vice President of Xbox 360, Games for Windows and Live services, Don Mattrick, confirmed that Bungie is working on “a new Halo game” of some sort for Xbox 360. The initial announcement for this Bungie-developed title was first cancelled at E3. Especially after Bungie recently showed a Halo Interactive Strategy Board Game, which showed they themselves are branching out Halo from the FPS genre too, like Microsoft Game Studios’ already announced RTS and movie-experience Halo projects. Eventually Bungie.net announced this new Halo 3: Keep It Clean campaign expansion pack on September 25th, 2008, the one-year anniversary of Halo 3.
Updated for September 2008: New word on the street suggests that Gearbox Software (of Brothers in Arms series fame) and Microsoft Game Studios (the owner of the Halo IP) are hiring new staff for a possible Halo 4 due for the Xbox 720. Gearbox founder Randy Pitchford exclaimed the project was “look-at-our-line-up-and-imagine-something-even-bigger kind of big”. Later Corrinne Yu, Director of Technology of Gearbox Software, left the company to join Microsoft as the Principle (Lead) Engine Architect of Halo Franchise Team in order to “lead the team to build the engines and games for future Halo’s on Xbox’es and PC’s at Microsoft.” At the same time Microsoft put out this job description: “Microsoft’s new Halo Studio team is looking for a technical and highly talented program manager to work an engineering team to help define the next generation of gaming software technology. As part of the next generation team, you’ll be instrumental in helping to lead the development of the engine that will power future experiences for the next generation of gaming platforms. You will work closely with the software architect and the senior development team behind this critical new effort.”

i think they should make some new halo game that takes the same idea as star wars where they tell what happens before the first halo game. or make a game where u play halo from the covenant’s point of view. u sould could see what would actually happen if th unsc and master chief were defeated and the prophet fired the rings. man…that would freakin awesome!
or maybe master chief could land on sum flood planet where he gets infected but learns how to control the infection. then he can become a giant flood monster whenever he wants. while on the flood planet chief finds out that the flood have devised a plan to literally take every last livin flood being and send them to attack the elites so that they can still survive strongly. chief then tries to capture the flood leader and then find a way to communicate with the elites to tell them to be prepared for the super war. the elites have advanced very much and are 10 times as strong as before unlike the flood who have not advanced or evolved at all. but the elites are greatly out numbered by the thousands. chief fails to stop the attack and ends up managing to sneek on a flood ship or whatever. chief makes it to the elites by goin undercover by turnin into a flood monster. chief then helps the elites by using his awesome new flood powers to truly destroy the flood once and for all. the elites and chief were winning by a large margin, but the tables turn as arbiter is then captured by the flood- and sent to the flood planet to be forced to give information- after he and some others were backstabbed by some elites who joined the flood because they thought they had a better chance with them. many of the other elites heard about the traders and actually agreed. So then hundreds of other elites join the flood causing total disruption in the war. Cortana forms a plan to save the arbiter.then chief and cortana set out to save the arbiter. The flood planet may be empty of floods but it’s freakin big and evry thing is very complicated there. After chief finds the arbiter and they are on there way out of there, out of nowhere one of the guards that were guarding the arbiter knocks out chief, takes arbiters energy sword, and kills the arbiter all in under 30 seconds. Chief wakes up after a while and kills that guard while it was sleeping. Chief bring the arbiter back to some elite medics but they can do nothing to revive him. Now the war has become something personal to the elites now and they are really mad. The flood then betrayed the elites that joined the flood and the flood then infected the dead elite bodies expanding the flood army tremendously. Then we use “a guy who plays halo”’s idea to truly destroy the flood and the covenant. And whoever else they don’t like.lol. chief and cortana return to earth and and live happily knowing that they’ll be safe for a long time to come.
the halo game their talking about is “halo wars” which is more like a stratergy game like comand and conquer ect
“sum kid” you thought about this way too much but that would be a gd story
heck… i could make a story for halo 5.
i thought about it way too much because i really want bungie to make a halo 4. maybe they’ll take my idea if they ever take the time to look at it.
I think on halo 4 story will take place in that weird planet maybe in covenant, flood or brute world. then when master cheif’s ship crashes in a city and whoever those alien or flood found it first cortana might wake chief in a second by now. (but I think in cheif mind something has bothering him since he was a little kid and he cant get it off his mind it was like hes been force in marines and got separated from his friends its his past time) when chiefs wake up n fight again then arbiter and his pals will come to help and save master chief to fight brutes or flood for thanking him to save them master chief’s neverending fights
i think that you should make a halo 4 and it should be awsome like halo 3 and it should start on that planet mastercheif and cortana crash on
i think that you should be able to play as a spartan 117 jake and u have to move up in the ranks
and find out that the elites are on ur planet/reach and ur team of new spartan recruit team kelly, seirra, josh, and fred.
and u should have control of ur spartan team as a spartan kind of like republic commando squad based combat and u can give them orders like lob a frag, clear a room, form ,disperse and, fire at will and so on. and u can board a cov capital ship and have a group of elites help u that has a young elite that is later the arbiter and u start as friends but then he betrays u on the the planet reach and that is how they hate each other later and then when he betrays u u and ur team gets a promotion and they get AI’s and u get cortana then u find out that young elite/ arbiter his real name is urnu arnu is on earth and u try to find hm and kill him but ur team gets captured by grunts and elites on reach so u actually get to choose to go to reach or earth and they are some space combat and u get to fly a longsword and u start to have flash backs from when u trained with them and when arbiter betrayed u on reach and that kind of gives u a bigger and harder choice then lord hood sees a cov battle group and starts a all out space war and right in the middle of it you choose and then bungie makes different endings for both of the choices.
that is my version of halo 4 or five idk
Well, if anyone here read the books, a lot of the actions that were set in motion were unanswered in the game. If u have read the halo book Onyx. U will learn about a secret spartan program that is made on a forerunner planet. I am really hoping they put the last remaining spartan in part 4. If the planet is onyx than that would give them more than enough material to create a new game. cause the brutes are still alive. Sum of the new spartan are alive as well as Master Chiefs old teammate. The ship that will be used in Halo Wars was in a fight above this planet of machine. One thing that I was disappointed in was How did MC get back to earth from the first halo? That part was cut out which was a disappointment cause a lot of plot lines were left out. such as the creator of the Spartan II program is Dr. Hasley, which is the real human form of cortana for whomever doesn’t know this. also the blast of the ending of the ark could have thrown the chief threw time. I dont like the idea of time travel but its possible. The flood is always gonna be a threat cause of all the rings they infect. The gravemind is still alive cause how did the flood escape the first halo. exactly! And the original Spartan from MC team Linda and Kelly are still alive a.k.a Blue Team. I would like to see the fastest spartan (yes a girl, mad sexy) be part of an awesome Halo 4 game. Lastly, do u really believe the forerunners would all be dead. I don’t think so. bobble ur mind about this for a while. It makes u think a bit different about the whole big epic story.
