Today Nintendo of Europe (and Australia) added a new classic game to the popular Wii Shop Channel. The game went live at midnight CET. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points to download games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at stores like Amazon UK (Card).
We’ve included a video of the game for nostalgia’s sake or so you can see if it’s for you. This week’s new game is:
Mega Turrican (priced 800 Wii Points = €8 / £6 / AU$12) is a 16-bit shooter game, developed by Factor 5, and published in 1995 by Data East. This game of the Turrican series was initially designed for the Sega Mega Drive / Genesis, and also got an Amiga port under the title of Turrican 3. The player has to complete numerous large levels always searching for secrets to pick up and enemies to shoot. To do this, you can pick up three different, upgradeable shots: a multiple, a laser and a rebound. You can also go into wheel-mode (as long as you have enough special energy) or use a rope. In wheel-mode, you are invincible and can lay mines or explore previously unreachable areas.
PS: You may have noticed the Wii Shop update when you go online. That’s meant to prepare every Wii owner worldwide for the upcoming WiiWare new downloadable games in May.
