Here’s some news you might’ve missed that popped up during the recent Game Developers Conference 2008. Nolan Bushnell, founder of Atari, creator of Pong, and all-round father of the videogame industry, is working on a massively-multiplayer online (MMO) game.
When Mr. Bushnell was asked by Eurogamer if he was working on anything in the MMO field, the man simply said “yes” without giving any details about the game itself.
To quote: “I think that it’s an unavoidable trend that there’s some socialisation and that massive multiplayer games are important. As compelling as World of Warcraft is… there are other ways to play a game.”
What if it turns out he has zero imagination? Could we end up with a ball-filled Pong MMO?
