The exercise videogame Wii Fit was announced to have a release date in America on May 19th, 2008. The tentative European release date is a little earlier on April 25th, 2008. It will be priced under $100. There are also over 10 games in development that take advantage of the Balance Board that’s included with Wii Fit.
According to a Wall Street Journal report, Nintendo of America has also announced the launch of the Wii Channel for original downloadable Wii content called WiiWare on May 12th, 2008.
The Wall Street Journal further explains that: “For games distributed over WiiWare, game makers won’t need any approval from Nintendo, though they must get their games rated by an industry rating system [the Entertainment Software Rating Board].” As we previously reported, outside of a handful of confirmed WiiWare games, there are over 100 WiiWare game proposals sent to Nintendo. — Via IGN
