The King of Fighters XII (KOFXII) to be shown on video at AOU 2008

The King of Fighters XII (KOFXII) logoThe King of Fighters XII will be revealed on video for the first time at AOU 2008 in Japan on February 16th.

The newest game in the King of Fighters franchise has been in development longer than any other by SNK Playmore due to the fact that they are completely overhauling the series, including starting from scratch with a brand new game engine and drawing completely new sprites for all the characters in the 2D fighter.

At the arcade show the game will be on display at both the SNK Playmore JP and Taito booths and will be displayed on Taito’s Type X² machine and ported later in 2009 to the PS3 and possibly the Xbox 360 (let’s hope so!) the same year.

The game should be released in Japan on the Taito Type X² in June or July this year. — Via SNK-Capcom

I’ve only been a KOF fan since KoF XI came out in Australia, back in July but I am so excited about seeing this game in action.

The confirmation of sprites and a PS3 port are just what I wanted to hear. I couldn’t stand a 3D game. I love SNK’s sprite work, its simply some of the best out there.

I’m realy interested to know what resolution the game will run at as well. Something 480p or higher. Probably just 480p though. Anything higher would be just a dream.
