The Orange Box sells 1 million copies; plans to release Half-Life 2 Episodes, Portal and Team Fortress 2 seperately, more Portal and Half-Life Episode 3 coming
EA has announced in their post-earnings conference call that The Orange Box has reached the one million units sold mark! That’s across all platforms PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
EA’s CEO John Riccitiello also said they have plans to split-up The Orange Box into it’s individual pieces (Half-Life 2 and it’s two episodes, Portal and Team Fortress 2) and make them available for purchase separately at retail for those people that don’t want the whole package. The pieces are already available in separate chunks on Valve’s Steam service.
Last but not least, Valve’s Doug Lombardi has stated that, “There’ll be more Portal, for sure. But the details of that, to be honest, we’re still working out.” He said that they do not want to release just quick and dirty updates to the game but want to make sure that each downloadable update will be of the high quality that you expect from Valve.
He also stated that Valve is already hard at work on Half-Life 2: Episode Three, saying, ” “With Episode Three we want to live up to the promise of where we are taking things to; there’s a lot of work being done to make sure we deliver on that promise.” No word on when we’ll get the first solid details on the game.
To keep you occupied until then though you will have free Team Fortress 2 content to chew on, which Valve is committed to keep flowing. — Via GameSpot, Eurogamer
