Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection pre-orders available via GameStop/EB

Metal Gear Solid: The Essentials Collection boxartMetal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection is now available for pre-order online at GameStop/EB.

The collection is similar to what Japanese fans received (although it’s missing Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops) in their Metal Gear Solid: Anniversary Collection, but it’s close enough.

Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection contains all the Metal Gear Solid games for play on PS2, including the original Metal Gear Solid (which is a PS1 disc apparently), a director’s cut of Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance, as well as the director’s cut of Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence. And on top of it all they have the game priced at only $29.99, which isn’t bad at all. It also lists the ship date as March 18, 2008.

So for those of you that never got to play the entire series, this is for you. Especially if you are anticipating Metal Gear Solid 4 and either haven’t played the previous games or need a refresher course. Or if you just want to get all the games playable on the PS2. — via Kotaku

I wonder whats included with the Directors Cut features. I already have each game in the package in some sort of special limited edition form so I’d be interested in hearing about the further additions.

Yeah I wonder as well. They really do need to detail why they are saying “director’s cut”. I mean if it’s going to be like the “Resident Evil: Director’s Cut” then it won’t be worth it if you have the original games seperately (unless you’re a collector like me. :P).

But I don’t think Konami would disappoint their Metal Gear audience. So we’ll just have to wait and see.

I’m kind of wondering why they included MGS1 when they could have included a port of Twin Snakes instead…that really would have made the pack sell.

Nothing for the PAL regions ? :(
