Rock Band Wii has finally been officially confirmed after much speculation. (Such as the official Rock Band Microphone which was revealed to say “Wii” on the packaging.
The confirmation of the game came at a third-quarter conference call, where Electronic Arts (EA distributes the game via its EA Partners program even though it’s officially published by MTV Games) CEO John Riccitiello mentioned the game at the end of a Q&A session where he said this:
“One of the things I’m very proud of is the partnership between Electronic Arts and MTV,” said EA CEO John Riccitiello told analysts. “In terms of pacing the next few quarters, you’re probably well aware of the more than $2.5 million music downloads that have occurred on Rock Band. What’s probably the most interesting pieces right now is the coming launch on the Wii, the continued sale of the core platforms in North America and then the fiscal ‘09 launch across Europe against all of the SKU. So, frankly for the balance of our Q4 and the first half of fiscal ‘09, Rock Band is a key focus.” (Emphasis added.)
Sadly no release date was given nor were any other details announced. But the important thing is that Rock Band for Wii IS coming, so Wii players won’t be stuck with Guitar Hero 3 as their only means of rocking out. - Thanks to Daniel Primed for sending this in.
No prob, I’m not sure which version of the game I’d pick up. Probably the PS3 version as by the time a Wii version hits the shelves the PS3 version would be a lot cheaper.
