Confirmed for Super Smash Bros. Brawl: Luigi, Ganondorf, Captain Falcon, Marth, Falco Lombardi, Mr. Game & Watch, R.O.B. and Young Link

On Thursday, January 31st, in Japan the Wii fighting game Super Smash Bros. Brawl will be released. There will be millions of fans trying to get their hands on the game early, so it’s no surprise now that Japanese stores are receiving their orders for the game from Nintendo, that the game’s street date is broken.

As a result we can now confirm 1 newcomer and 7 veteran Super Smash Bros. characters for Brawl to you! Here are the new characters:

Luigi (from the Mario series)

Ganondorf (from The Legend of Zelda series)

Captain Falcon (from the F-Zero series)

Marth (from the Fire Emblem series)

Falco Lombardi (from the Star Fox series)

Mr. Game & Watch (from the classic Game & Watch series)

R.O.B. (Robotic Operating Buddy, known as Robot in Japan — from the NES games Gyromite & Stack-Up)

Young Link (known as Toon Link in Japan — from The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker)

The following character roster from the Japanese version of the game shows all the so-far unveiled Brawl characters, except for the already confirmed Jigglypuff and possible others we don’t know about yet.

Here’s a new gameplay video showing the character and stage select and a battle.

In the Subspace Emissary Marth and Metaknight confront each other and then… team up!?

I hope this ain’t every character I still feel empty I think it needs a few more suprises…and R.O.B?!Come on…I still waiting for young link aka cell shaded…please…PLEASE!!

Wouldn’t you rather have a newcomer instead of another Link though?

Like this blue guy called Taboo. He might just be a boss, no one seems to know if he’s playable or not. But at least he’s new to the game:

Anyone notice that the character select screen the “newly unveiled” characters show up on is drastically different than the actual character screen shown in the video right below it?

Can anyone explain?

ChaOS, that’s because when everyone is selected and the brawl is ready to start, the background changes colour. Watch the video again and you’ll see that they are in fact the same page.

ChaOS: It’s exactly the same. The difference you’re seeing is that whether or not a character is selected, which changes the select screen.

Earlier today I added R.O.B. and I’ve just updated with Young Link as a confirmed character!

i think all these photos are fake but they look good..even tho i dont play fire emblem and dont know who marth and Ike are..but i think theyre fake cuz over bowsers screen it says koopa in the videos and in the pics so im skeptical

Nees: We do not post fake pictures. Period. The names for the characters are different because Bowser is Koopa in Japanese. A lot of characters have different screennames in the Japanese version, which is where all these screenshots are from.
