The 1999 Dreamcast classic Space Channel 5 will be coming to the Nintendo Wii. Sega is working on a remake of what’s likely the 2002 PS2 port of the music-rhythm single player game. So far publisher Sega would only confirm that “the Wii version has licensed music pieces of the Pop icon Michael Jackson.” Since this is a remake it’s doubtful creator Tetsuya Mizuguchi, who would still like to make a sequel someday, is involved.
Space Channel 5 is a dance trance rhythm game. When the Morolians invade, ace reporter Ulala scoops the story for Space Channel 5. Ulala meets her match when the hip-hopping aliens zap citizens into a hypnotic dance trance. The challenge begins, she must battle by busting her grooviest moves to free the captives. This title has real-time rendered dancers and soundtracks featuring a range of artists. There are 78 unique characters, complete with their own bios and galactic moves.
