*Minor spoilers for level 4 and 6*
I beat it sem-legitimately! I had to look at a guide for one bit of level 4 which was a nearly impossible to locate side of an abyss leading to the next thermal vent. Also had to use Gourad mode in the water maze cuz it was too dark to see where to go but apart from that I beat it.Final stage could have use more enemy variety.

Great review, I recently got Turok 2 for the PC and the graphics look much sharper, you can save anywhere which is great, and the aiming problems are totally resolved due to the smooth frame-rate. It looks and plays great for it’s time, especially playing with a sixaxis controller. I’ve been blown away by the game to be honest, I spent 4 hours on the first level and loved every minute of it, I can’t think of an instance like that in any other game (that had levels). The gameplay and atmosphere destroy other FPS of the time, this makes the original Unreal single player seem weak by comparison. I’d love to see a re-release on todays consoles with updated graphics & online/offline multiplayer. Maybe it’s just that the style of game is right up my alley, but I absolutely love this game, it’s definitely a 10/10 for me.

I mean it’s interesting how many fps games there was on the n64 system, it truly was the Xbox 360 of the late 90s with all the fps games that were on it like Goldeneye, Doom 64, Turok, Quake & Duke Nukem 64, Perfect Dark as well as many other games. I love this game because its so damn hard and still fun. i agree with you about how the lvls are too big and how the aiming system kinda sucks. but when i play it, i dont use any cheats at all. also i dont have a memory card thing so i cannot save my game so sometimes i just have to leave my n64 on so i dont lose the progress i made. the only lvl that really pissed me off is lair of the blind ones and i could never find those 3 holes. =(

As a former owner of this cool game (I even bought an expansion pack for it back in the day) I’d pick Turok 2 up a heartbeat on the VC. I still remember the legendary unlock-everything cheat “oblivionisathand”! Also, the Cerebral Bore might be the best videogame weapon ever invented!
