Xbox Live Arcade game Undertow is the free download between January 23-26 (to make up for the recent Xbox Live downtime)

Remember how after the Xbox Live downtime during the holiday 2007 season you were promised a free game to make up for the Xbox Live issues? Well, all ten million of us Xbox Live members (Gold and Silver) around the world are getting a full Xbox LIVE Arcade game to download free of charge starting tomorrow, but it’ll only be for this week!

Microsoft announced that beginning Wednesday, at 2AM PST through Sunday, 11:59PM PST, Xbox Live members worldwide can download the full version of the recent award-winning Xbox Live Arcade game, Undertow. That will save you 800 Microsoft Points if you were looking for that new game to try. I would’ve rather had a game of choice, but I’ll take it. If you’ve already bought the full version of Undertow, you can contact your local support and they will probably arrange a different game for you (the number is 1-800-4-MYXBOX in North America).

Undertow features a full story driven-single player campaign, on and offline co-op, and multiplayer for 2-16 players over Xbox Live for Gold subscribers. Players battle for control of the oceans as one of three selectable races, each with four unique, upgradeable units. — Via Gamerscoreblog
