Pre-order Rainbow Six Vegas 2 for Xbox 360The developers at Ubisoft have geared Rainbow Six Vegas 2 towards co-op play from the start. In co-op, players will now be able to experience the full single-player campaign, whereas the previous game skipped several cut-scenes and all of the in-game media. As a consequence, however, the co-op experience has been reduced to a maximum of two players, down from four in the first Rainbow Six Vegas. Unlike the co-op mode in the original Rainbow Six: Vegas, the AI teammates will remain in the game during co-op and can be given orders and go-codes by Player 1. Another advantage is that a second player can join in a campaign game at any time to help out and earn the same achievements as player one, like you can in Gears of War.

As for the multiplayer maps, Ubisoft is focusing on more intimate maps. To quote an IGN interview: “Bigger maps don’t necessarily mean they are better. However, we do offer both bigger and smaller sized maps in RSV2. Our objective was to balance all the maps as best as possible by making more intense firefight zones. In an MP map, you want to be able to find enemies instead of spending all your time wandering around the landscape. There’s still plenty of room to maneuver and approach your objective from different paths. In addition, one way Rainbow Six differentiates itself from other shooters is through close quarter battles.”

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 will be released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on March 11th, 2008.
