Soul Calibur V possible? Soul Calibur IV director answers that and more in a video interview

Soul Calibur IV director, Katsutoshi Sasaki, talks about what’s new to the fighting game in the following CES 2008 video interview.

He justifies the Star Wars additions of Darth Vader and Yoda because the creators thought the players would enjoy it. He even answers whether or not this the final Soul Calibur and says if there’s demand that Soul Calibur V or another game in the series is possible.

EXCUUUUUUUUUUSE ME.. it seems like every one here including namco has forgotten them yes (Mizer)my fav, Li Long, Arthur, Strife, Hua lin and so on.
Regarless if some of their moves could be a tad glitchy. They should of been included. Why dont I take over from Namco Authorities!!!! I would leave or alter everything that was good whilst adding new stuff Fans will never be disapointed. SC4 seems like Soul Calibur has degenerated. Team battles gone, Extra characters gone. Thats why there are so much kiliks. Online should be a vast amount of characters who you dont really know too much about their move set a skilled Aurelia noob who can spring up out of nowhere and kill a 400 rank. and for the record extra characers would work perfectly even if glitches havent been sniffed out yet, due to the new COMBO system.

the fact that there are only regular characters in sc4 MEANS No Glitches and VC’s are a thing of the past SO. Whyyy oh Why do Combos minimise sooooooooo significantly. with setsuka after 3 hits her 2 main combos b+k 6,1 b (66 b+k)or (33 a+b) takes of shavings from the opponents life bar and I mean shavings. a combo which was 90 damg becomes 15damg.

Namco will never listen………So guys we will have to make another game SOUL STEEL which is how we all want It.

Worst in the series why?

Story: Worst intro! soul calibur is not an ice sword! soul edge is not fire!
The intro had no epicness to it.
Oh look! mitsurugi is fighting darth vader! so cool! (sarcasim)

soul calibur is good enough the way it is! don’t destroy it! putting no/terrible story and bad music is not gonna make it better!

characters

star wars! did the directors 7 year old suggest that?
its stupid! why would vader and yoda go to the soul universe?
and the apprentice is even worse. he has no popularity at all. no ones like “oh, the apprentice. hes awwsooome”.

also you should change yoshimitsu. his character is basically a retarted old man.
i had to change to japanese and change his costume to a knight to make him somewhat cool but he still has the claping feet gesture which is dumb.
tekken yoshimitsu is awesome though. his voice and words are cool. his costumes are cool, his gestures are cool.
and he is not a retarted old man.

SC4 was a collossal disappointment for me.

1. There was no Chronicles of the Sword. I LOVED that mode in SC3. It was what I was looking forward to the most in SC4.

2. Star Wars? Seriously? Imagine my frustration upon not only finding out my favorite mode had been removed, but the game was tainted with ridiculous cameos. Star Wars is hardly even popular anymore. Regardless, please remove the light sabers from my favorite fighting game. Kthx.

3. The online SUCKED. There was no separation of rank so you would either be fighting someone miles better than you, miles worse than you, or a noob who just spammed Kilik/Cervantes attacks.

4. No team battle. I simply cannot fathom why they would remove their most highly-regarded mode. Their stupidity is seemingly ineffable.

5. Why would they make it so clothes = stats? What if I want to make characters that look cool AND fight well? I guess that’s just not an option.

Get it together, Namco.

um…y dont u complain to someone who cares and btw star wars characters and any other special characters are cool and if u say different clearly ur an undereducated fool and i freakin hated the extras in scIII they were lame as hell so theres that issue taken care of i will admit i missed chronicles of the sword and i wish the whole stats thing wasnt how it was but it was better than the last game on several issues so overall it balances out u just gotta understand that games are experiments at first and saying what u liked and didnt like is a good way to say “hey put this in” but really lightsabers are cool dont go dissing darth vader or yoda cuz face it…if u were facing them for real u would crap urself…and btw to the guy who said i would give all the fans everthing they wanted…yeah…good luck gettin that all in within the next 5 years…

there is NO ONE Game that pleases everyone. Even the complainers won’t agree on what to add or remove!!! if you don’t like a game don’t play the game. I’m waiting on SC-V!!!!!! and will continue playing SC-IV!

yes…if you don’t like..you can quit out the game or break your disk…but with me…SC4 is over great…i love it and i’m waiting day by day SC5

All I Have to Say is that Sc4 is a pretty cool game. I do agree however that the involvment with the Star Wars Characters Is Somewhat Retarded i Do Hope That They Come up With An Improvement In Sc5.

They need to bring back Team Mode for sure.
They also need to vamp up the Customization. I think the Custom Character thing was pretty incredible in SC4, but there are a few things they could have done to make it revolutionary.
1.) More anachronistic clothing. I know the style of the game is a fantasy world from like 1000 years in the past, but let’s have things like jeans, dresses, sneakers, suit and tie, etc. There don’t need to be 10 different styles of greaves… It would make customizing so much more fun.
2.) Custom voice. People nowadays LOVE those flash animations that use computerized Microsoft Sam style voices. It would not be hard for them to put that capability into Soul Calibur. It would make the game so much more fun. How many times have you wanted to have your character say something over the top or profane? It would be best if there were still an option for normal voices, and then Microsoft Sam style voices as a bonus. I don’t think anyone would be like “this isn’t good enough, it sounds like a computer!” We understand there are limitations but it would be so fun and if the Microsoft Sam voice says something a little awkward, well, it will just make the game more fun.

Anyway, if they bring back just those 2 things I’d buy it in a heartbeat. SC is definitely a better style of fighting game than the other games on the market these days.

soul calibur iv is not modern its probaly set in anicent times so
if it was modern it would be absolute crap i hate modern games because you cant get trackpants or a cool katana it alyways modern which is what some players hate about games so all of you suck it up
namco wont listen to your wining stop okay its very annoying!!!!
