Kane & Lynch 2 and film confirmed after original sells over 1 million copies

Kane & Lynch: Dead Men on Xbox 360Although Kane & Lynch: Dead Men was only released less than two months ago for Christmas, Eidos have already stated a Kane & Lynch 2 sequel is in the works, and are hoping to make Kane & Lynch into a key franchise. To quote: “We’ve already got Kane & Lynch 2 in production, which just goes to show the belief we have in it as a long-term franchise.”

These developments are further backed after the company announced strong global sales of Kane & Lynch: Dead Men, which has sold over 1 million copies at retail. “We believe it has the potential to be a franchise for adults that is respected and loved in the same way as Hitman,” CEO of Eidos parent Jane Cavanagh told MCV. She continued: “The marketing spend reflects our confidence both in the title and the franchise, which has already been optioned for a Kane & Lynch movie by Lionsgate.” All this ruckus despite lackluster gameplay indicated by low-tier scores averaging at 67% on Gamerankings.com.

As for other games, publisher SCi also said that Pony Friends, launched in May 2007, has sold 600,000 units on the Nintendo DS, life-to-date. The publisher added that Tomb Raider: Anniversary for Wii, which released during the Christmas period, has “performed well” and has received reorders. — Via Nextgen
