Wild Earth: African Safari is the Wii version of an independent PC game that took three awards back in 2003 at the Independent Games Festival (including the coveted Seamus McNally Grand Prize) and now Majesco is bringing the game to Nintendo’s Wii.
The game has you playing as a photojournalist who is exploring the vast savannas of the African Serengeti National Park. You will be tasked with taking photos of 30 different kinds of animals in their natural habitat, doing what animals do. If you get too close to an animal the Wii Remote will rumble, making it harder to snap the up-close pics that are wanted most.
The Wii version also includes some exclusive additions to the PC original, including a cooperative multiplayer mode, where one player drives while the other snaps the pictures and a mini-game mode that allows you to see things from the animals perspective where you will have to use gestures with the Wii Remote (hmmm).
While the graphics won’t win any awards and are a far cry from the PS3 game known simply as “Afrika”, this game will be available soon (No exact release date though) and features an inspiring soundtrack from world music label Talking Drum Records, that serves to lend the game an atmospheric backdrop to perfectly fit the photo-snapping adventure.
