Bubble Bobble and The King of Fighters ’94 hit the PAL Wii Virtual Console today
Today Nintendo of Europe (and Australia) added new classic games to the popular Wii Shop Channel. The games went live at midnight CET. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at stores like Amazon UK (Card).
PAL regions this week are the first to get both Bubble Bobble on NES and The King of Fighters ’94 on NEOGEO. We’ve included videos of all games for nostalgia’s sake or so you can see if it’s for you. This week’s new games are:
Bubble Bobble (priced 500 Wii Points = €5 / £3.75 / AU$7.50) features two Bubble Dragons, Bub, who is green with yellow spikes/horns and Bob, who is blue with cyan spikes/horns. Together, they journey through the Cave of Monsters to rescue their girlfriends. They move over a system of platforms, busting and pushing bubbles, avoiding enemies and collecting a variety of power-ups.
The King of Fighters ’94 (priced 900 Wii Points = €9 / £9.75 / AU$13.50) introduces the series’ signature 3-man team system, instead of a simple one-on-one two round fight system a player chooses a team of three characters then determines the order to play them before a fight, each fight consisting of up to 5 rounds and each round ending when one of the two fighters is knocked out, the remaining fighter stays and faces the opponent’s next character, a fight is won when one of the two players loses the last of their three fighters.
