Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 might feature a character creator

Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 is already talked about by the game’s creators. They mention always listening to fan comments and admit that was the reason why they added online multiplayer on Wii and many more characters in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 after Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 on PS2 and Wii. One of the features still missing is a character creator, but that might change in 2008.

To quote Atari producer Donny Clay: “Unfortunately there are some things that are requested by several different fans that we aren’t able to do just yet. For example, one of things we get asked for quite a bit is a completely custom character system from the ground up. Meaning players want to be able to build their own character with their own moves and their own look. This is definitely something I would love to do as well, we just haven’t had the chance to get this into a game yet. Don’t worry though I won’t forget.”

That should come as no surprise since the upcoming Dragon Ball Online MMO game also features a character creator tool that allows you to make your own Saiyan, Human or Namek.

In recent interviews the Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 team mentions working on a next-gen game and being a fan of the Xbox 360, so my guess would be that the next DBZ game is coming to not just Wii and PS2, but also Xbox 360 and PS3. Makes sense for them to want to make the graphics look even better and have more online features. Throw in the character creator on top of even more than the 161 characters in the last game and you’ve got yourself Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4.

As the official DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi blog says: “When we’re coming up with a new DBZ game, we first think about what the fans on the forums and message boards have been asking about.” So what do you want in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4?

PS: There’s also a Dragon Ball Z: Budokai “Burst Limit” game in development for PS3 and Xbox 360.

Update May 19th, 2009: After 1.5 years of waiting, the first magazine announcement of Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 has been revealed in Japan, where the next Tenkaichi game for Xbox 360 and PS3 is titled Dragon Ball Z: Raging Blast!

Dbz can yall please make a dbz game that allows me the player too get inside the saiyan spacepod and tell t where i want too go and by looking out the window inside of it i can fly to any plant

I THINK THAT SOME CHARACTERS MISSING IN THE DBZ GAMES ARE ADULT CHI CHI, AND THE TWO OTHER TRANSFORMATIONS THAT GOKU SHOWED GOHAN WHEN THEY WERE TRAINING IN THE HYPERBOLIC TIME CHAIMBERG (SIMILAR TO FUTURE TRUNK’S TRANSFORMATIONS, AFTER ENTERING THE HYPERBOLIC TIME CHAIMBERG)

mcjakeqcool: It used to be VERY popular, that much is obvious with almost 5,000 comments! BUT the past month the Raging Blast character list has been getting ten times as many comments. I think it has to do with people accepting that new name, instead of the old Budokai Tenkaichi 4 one.

There’s also the issue that this page was created two years ago based on words from Atari, while Namco Bandai is the new publisher for the game. Meaning it’s looking unlikely they want a character creator, since they haven’t even added DBZ GT characters yet. Sad but true.

It’s still a very popular article. Anyway for me the important thing is that Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 sees the light of day, not that it get’s a character creator.
