Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 might feature a character creator

Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 is already talked about by the game’s creators. They mention always listening to fan comments and admit that was the reason why they added online multiplayer on Wii and many more characters in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 after Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 on PS2 and Wii. One of the features still missing is a character creator, but that might change in 2008.

To quote Atari producer Donny Clay: “Unfortunately there are some things that are requested by several different fans that we aren’t able to do just yet. For example, one of things we get asked for quite a bit is a completely custom character system from the ground up. Meaning players want to be able to build their own character with their own moves and their own look. This is definitely something I would love to do as well, we just haven’t had the chance to get this into a game yet. Don’t worry though I won’t forget.”

That should come as no surprise since the upcoming Dragon Ball Online MMO game also features a character creator tool that allows you to make your own Saiyan, Human or Namek.

In recent interviews the Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 team mentions working on a next-gen game and being a fan of the Xbox 360, so my guess would be that the next DBZ game is coming to not just Wii and PS2, but also Xbox 360 and PS3. Makes sense for them to want to make the graphics look even better and have more online features. Throw in the character creator on top of even more than the 161 characters in the last game and you’ve got yourself Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4.

As the official DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi blog says: “When we’re coming up with a new DBZ game, we first think about what the fans on the forums and message boards have been asking about.” So what do you want in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4?

PS: There’s also a Dragon Ball Z: Budokai “Burst Limit” game in development for PS3 and Xbox 360.

Update May 19th, 2009: After 1.5 years of waiting, the first magazine announcement of Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 has been revealed in Japan, where the next Tenkaichi game for Xbox 360 and PS3 is titled Dragon Ball Z: Raging Blast!

It’s true. Raging Blast is a spin-off of the Tenkaichi series. But, most of us would still be waiting for an official BT4.

yo thomas. i can guarantee nw dat der wont b a tenkaichi 4. but my guess is dat if all haters of dis game put their annoyances to their sides and buy dis game making it sell very good, dey will make a raging blast 2 and 3 and i’m pretty sure dat raging blast 3 will b da tenkaichi 4 dt we all wnt. sure its 2-3 years to wait but the longa u wait the beta it is wen its in ur hands. i personaly am excited about dis game.

i know raging blast has lost a lot of characters and mayb and its only a mayb, so ppl shud stop moanin it doesnt, that it doesnt hav in game transformations but its core gameplay seems to b vastly improved and its graphics and most probs game modes. so really i still c it as a step forward as wt dey r doin to us rite nw is givin us a sample of wts hopefully to kum. improve the core gameplay nw and den add the extra fun stuff. wud u wnt a game dt u know cud of dun beta. dey wnt to b known as a game dt satisfies characters and transformations wise but disappoints where it counts. i luv loads of characters too but characters dont make a game. i luvd tenklaichi 3. n yh i’m a bit disappointd 2 but i’m lookin at it on the bright side.

dis may not live up to wt many wantd in tenkaichi 4 but it cud lead the way for wt we wanted in tenkaichi 4. so even if ur unhappy wid stuff still buy it. the beta it duz the mre likely we are to c a sequel

Yeah, you’re right. If this does sell well, then the sequel should have more characters, and it should be for the Wii.

If I see Videl on the list, I’ll buy the game, and a PS3. But, until then, I should wait and see.
