Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 might feature a character creator

Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 is already talked about by the game’s creators. They mention always listening to fan comments and admit that was the reason why they added online multiplayer on Wii and many more characters in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 after Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 on PS2 and Wii. One of the features still missing is a character creator, but that might change in 2008.

To quote Atari producer Donny Clay: “Unfortunately there are some things that are requested by several different fans that we aren’t able to do just yet. For example, one of things we get asked for quite a bit is a completely custom character system from the ground up. Meaning players want to be able to build their own character with their own moves and their own look. This is definitely something I would love to do as well, we just haven’t had the chance to get this into a game yet. Don’t worry though I won’t forget.”

That should come as no surprise since the upcoming Dragon Ball Online MMO game also features a character creator tool that allows you to make your own Saiyan, Human or Namek.

In recent interviews the Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 team mentions working on a next-gen game and being a fan of the Xbox 360, so my guess would be that the next DBZ game is coming to not just Wii and PS2, but also Xbox 360 and PS3. Makes sense for them to want to make the graphics look even better and have more online features. Throw in the character creator on top of even more than the 161 characters in the last game and you’ve got yourself Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4.

As the official DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi blog says: “When we’re coming up with a new DBZ game, we first think about what the fans on the forums and message boards have been asking about.” So what do you want in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4?

PS: There’s also a Dragon Ball Z: Budokai “Burst Limit” game in development for PS3 and Xbox 360.

Update May 19th, 2009: After 1.5 years of waiting, the first magazine announcement of Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 has been revealed in Japan, where the next Tenkaichi game for Xbox 360 and PS3 is titled Dragon Ball Z: Raging Blast!

Unbelievable, so there are gonna be more characters for me to test my strenght against? 2008’s the year to do something totally huge with the Dragonball Z franchise.
Tenkaichi 3 was a toughie, and I know that TENKAICHI 4 will be even tougher.

all charactars that goku and hes friends are fought with. and when you hit somebody in game there should be blood flying out.

i think for the next dbz tenkaichi 4 game, you should put all the things that Vic-07-Weed said, and make early piccolo grow big like he did in the martial arts tournament in the end of dragonball, you should make kami’s alternate costume shen, you should put android 14 and 15 (please) I was really expecting 14 and 15 in tenkaichi 3 but they were not there, that is just messed up. make ALL of baba’s fighters. i understand in tenkaichi 3 you were trying to aim for more dragonball characters and i appreciate that, but in tenkaichi 4, make just a little more db characters and alittle more dbz characters, but make lots of dbgt characters. thanks and cant wait

bigger stages, life size buildings, more destructive capabilities, better explosions when the earth is destroyed, each stage has its own destroyed area instead of going to the same one on every stage, more attacks for everybody like triangle left and right, made up forms like ss5, no time schedule on tournaments, longer story mode, more character battle scars, better view on beam clashes,
