Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 might feature a character creator

Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 is already talked about by the game’s creators. They mention always listening to fan comments and admit that was the reason why they added online multiplayer on Wii and many more characters in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 after Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 on PS2 and Wii. One of the features still missing is a character creator, but that might change in 2008.

To quote Atari producer Donny Clay: “Unfortunately there are some things that are requested by several different fans that we aren’t able to do just yet. For example, one of things we get asked for quite a bit is a completely custom character system from the ground up. Meaning players want to be able to build their own character with their own moves and their own look. This is definitely something I would love to do as well, we just haven’t had the chance to get this into a game yet. Don’t worry though I won’t forget.”

That should come as no surprise since the upcoming Dragon Ball Online MMO game also features a character creator tool that allows you to make your own Saiyan, Human or Namek.

In recent interviews the Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 team mentions working on a next-gen game and being a fan of the Xbox 360, so my guess would be that the next DBZ game is coming to not just Wii and PS2, but also Xbox 360 and PS3. Makes sense for them to want to make the graphics look even better and have more online features. Throw in the character creator on top of even more than the 161 characters in the last game and you’ve got yourself Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4.

As the official DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi blog says: “When we’re coming up with a new DBZ game, we first think about what the fans on the forums and message boards have been asking about.” So what do you want in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4?

PS: There’s also a Dragon Ball Z: Budokai “Burst Limit” game in development for PS3 and Xbox 360.

Update May 19th, 2009: After 1.5 years of waiting, the first magazine announcement of Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 has been revealed in Japan, where the next Tenkaichi game for Xbox 360 and PS3 is titled Dragon Ball Z: Raging Blast!

atari really needs to sort out charachters power levels because and this is not a joke i decided to have a laugh on bt3 duel com vs com and put ss4 gogeta god character against hercule and the battle ended with gogeta getting his ass kicked does anyone agree with me that thats really badly screwed up

Totally agree with the power levels issue I want a grading system to determine strengths of characters somewhat like the story mode of BT2

Trust me if they said anything about the release it we be on this website

Also a good way to make the power levels is handicaps

For example

I am Gogeta ssj4 so I give him 6/6 bars
And I go against Hercule and give him 1/6 bars

So it only takes a couple of hits to beat him.

I think that is an easy way

OK, seriously, that whole handicap idea is kinda bad if you think about it. If you have to set a handicap every time you fight it makes the fights feel less realistic. I think the only way to deal with that horrible power balance issue is if you make not only power levels and experience a factor, but also make transformation levels a factor. You truly cant do it if you don’t factor in all of those variables, because if you think about it, Goku from GT could kick the crap out of the Goku from the Buu saga even if the Goku from the Bu saga was SSJ2. “Why”, some of you might ask!? Well it is because as he gains experience, even his base form becomes stronger than he was before and that goes for everyone else. That is why at the beginning of the Buu saga (i think it was) Goku said something like “I have to go teach Broly another lesson”. That means that Goku is probably mopping the floor with Broly. If you need proof of this, then watch the little scuffle between Goku and Cell w/ Freeza, or just watch when Gohan punched Freeza and blew his behind up. Both easily won their fights without going SSJ.

Don’t you thinkbit’s stupid how much the blasts take off. Because of BT3 End Goku’s kamehameha takes off around 10,000 with the boost, but super saiyan Goku’s 10x kamehameha only takes off around 8,000 now telll me isn’t that weird? I’m not saying it should take off 10x the normal kamehameha but it should atleast take off more. Some moves take off more than others it’s weird. Say for instance aswell Vegeta (2nd)’s Big Bang Attack as his max power takes off more than super saiyan 2 Big Bang attack and I know that the base Vegeta’s big bang attack is his max power but as a super saiyan 2 it should take off more. Tell me what you think of this, pllz!!
