Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 might feature a character creator

Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 is already talked about by the game’s creators. They mention always listening to fan comments and admit that was the reason why they added online multiplayer on Wii and many more characters in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 after Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 on PS2 and Wii. One of the features still missing is a character creator, but that might change in 2008.

To quote Atari producer Donny Clay: “Unfortunately there are some things that are requested by several different fans that we aren’t able to do just yet. For example, one of things we get asked for quite a bit is a completely custom character system from the ground up. Meaning players want to be able to build their own character with their own moves and their own look. This is definitely something I would love to do as well, we just haven’t had the chance to get this into a game yet. Don’t worry though I won’t forget.”

That should come as no surprise since the upcoming Dragon Ball Online MMO game also features a character creator tool that allows you to make your own Saiyan, Human or Namek.

In recent interviews the Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 team mentions working on a next-gen game and being a fan of the Xbox 360, so my guess would be that the next DBZ game is coming to not just Wii and PS2, but also Xbox 360 and PS3. Makes sense for them to want to make the graphics look even better and have more online features. Throw in the character creator on top of even more than the 161 characters in the last game and you’ve got yourself Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4.

As the official DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi blog says: “When we’re coming up with a new DBZ game, we first think about what the fans on the forums and message boards have been asking about.” So what do you want in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4?

PS: There’s also a Dragon Ball Z: Budokai “Burst Limit” game in development for PS3 and Xbox 360.

Update May 19th, 2009: After 1.5 years of waiting, the first magazine announcement of Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 has been revealed in Japan, where the next Tenkaichi game for Xbox 360 and PS3 is titled Dragon Ball Z: Raging Blast!

well, if you ask me, tenkaichi 4 should have online play, every character from Z to GT, all the shadow dragons, gt goten, gt trunks, everyone. and the ability to create an build up your own custom character with custom look and moves. that would be an awsome tenkaichi that i dont think would be boring at all. i think bordom would be the least thing you’d have to worry about. price? well, if it had everything i said, well worth it. so if tenkaichi 4 has all this that i mentioned or a lil less or more. i still say that all the tenkaichi games were well worth their money. but ill see what happens with tenkaichi 4.

i’m hopin those rumours are true. especially wen its rumoured namco bandai are gonna announce it as they are the origional japanese publishers and its a official rumour. so lets just hope. also kingdom hearts 3 is rumoured which is gd. but tenkaichi 4 is the main one hopefully tenkaichi 4 is on ps2 tho coz i may be waitin a year for next gen ps3 and i won’t b able to cope if its jus for next gen.
and for the concerns of if they make it for ps2 then the ps3 version won’t be as gd. wat they shud do is make it fisrt for the ps3. make it as gd as they can using everything the ps3 can. and after they finish the ps3 version. they shud then make it for ps2 and make it as close to the ps3 version as possible even if some systems have to be missed out. i won’t mind coz wen i get next gen i will re buy it on next gen wen i get it ne way.crash mind over mutants is doing this. they are first making the wii version and once that is done they are going to make ps2 and 360 versions. 360 with better stuff and ps2 as closely gd to wii version as possible. i mean don’t get me wrong i know we shud step up to next gen sooner or later but i still think there is a year or maybe 2 left of ps2 as ps3 is still more expensive for me and others.
but they better not reduce characters for a ps2 version coz frankly extra characters is one of the main things i luk forward to in a new dbz game.

P.S. BUT THEY BETTER NOT REDUCE CHARACTERS FOR A PS2 VERSION COZ FRANKLY EXTRA CHARACTERS IS ONE OF THE MAIN THINGS I LUK FORWARD TO IN A NEW DBZ GAME

Well, what me and alot of the dbz fans i know would like to see is an all out brawl mode with multiple characters. Sort of like Def Jam. Or on James bond. With the board or stage alot bigger though and some sort of radar. Where it can be two on two or everyone for themselves. I know that would take alot but we think it would give it another side to look forward too. Great job by the way.

I just got done playing Godzilla Unleashed

That too is made from atari
It also has co-op and 1v1v1v1
v=versus
I think that If atari used the concept of co-op from godzilla unleashed and tweek it so that its still Tenkaichi’s 3rd person veiw
That would be an exelent concept for tenkaichi

If memory is an option for the discs
I think they should just use anime scense. I like anime scenes better because if you notice in tenkaichi, when a charater is tired in the cutsene, the pant the same way. Just make sure stroy mode has every battle.

Oh I also have another great co-op Idea

You know when gohan faught beam battle wit cell, the player should do that in the story mode.

I mean like 2 whole minutes of rotating the analog. Around when the 1st minute is over. Vegeta should be on your team and you should see him use his big bang on cell breaking his leg

And please I think this is the most very imprant thing

*Characters NEED to have MORE than THREE moves*

Frieza (final Form) on the show did these moves

I might die this time(orb thingy he trapped goku in)
Death Beam
Fissure Slash
Destroy Planet
Death Ball
Move he use to kill krillin
And probally more

WHY IN THE HECK are there only 3 moves if he did all of those in the show.

Another thing.
Goku’s Kaiken should be a transformation again
ON BT3 it only last about 60 sec

And I know alot of people wont agree with this, but I think there should only be 3 gokus
