Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 might feature a character creator

Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 is already talked about by the game’s creators. They mention always listening to fan comments and admit that was the reason why they added online multiplayer on Wii and many more characters in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 after Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 on PS2 and Wii. One of the features still missing is a character creator, but that might change in 2008.

To quote Atari producer Donny Clay: “Unfortunately there are some things that are requested by several different fans that we aren’t able to do just yet. For example, one of things we get asked for quite a bit is a completely custom character system from the ground up. Meaning players want to be able to build their own character with their own moves and their own look. This is definitely something I would love to do as well, we just haven’t had the chance to get this into a game yet. Don’t worry though I won’t forget.”

That should come as no surprise since the upcoming Dragon Ball Online MMO game also features a character creator tool that allows you to make your own Saiyan, Human or Namek.

In recent interviews the Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 team mentions working on a next-gen game and being a fan of the Xbox 360, so my guess would be that the next DBZ game is coming to not just Wii and PS2, but also Xbox 360 and PS3. Makes sense for them to want to make the graphics look even better and have more online features. Throw in the character creator on top of even more than the 161 characters in the last game and you’ve got yourself Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4.

As the official DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi blog says: “When we’re coming up with a new DBZ game, we first think about what the fans on the forums and message boards have been asking about.” So what do you want in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4?

PS: There’s also a Dragon Ball Z: Budokai “Burst Limit” game in development for PS3 and Xbox 360.

Update May 19th, 2009: After 1.5 years of waiting, the first magazine announcement of Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 has been revealed in Japan, where the next Tenkaichi game for Xbox 360 and PS3 is titled Dragon Ball Z: Raging Blast!

awesome I hope the next dbz game is on the 360 and it has online play and a character creation…with xbox live you could literally have ‘world tournaments’ its gonna be great if they do it right

They should diffently bring it out for 360 because it is well known for online play. The game should include a ranking system where you could go up to a lev50 and each 10 levels should have a different and cooler appearance making it more desireable. Be able to custom your character have maybe team battles like 2v2 or have free for alls. Have more unique dodging and combos for basic fighting… Have any beam to be dodgeable yet difficult and maybe have an additional af character. Like ss5 goku to be able to be unlocked when achieving various difficult achievemnets. Look at online games like halo2/3 that has become very successful and unique. In some way or form such details can be incorporated into a dbz game and make it somewhat addictive. Maybe even mlg worth. Have some dbz pros.

I hope the next dbz game goes in depth with the story as it happens and that it shows about everything. An example would be having all the shadow dragons as characters

oh yeah and have at least 80 hrs of game play. this will be a seccess becasue the fans are gonna want to play the game 24/7 becasue its gonna be like watch all the series

Gameplay Options:

Loads more arenas (all sagas)

You can change arena whilst in gameplay

when you fuse, you come out of it

when you power up (to super saiyan) you can power down when you fall down not just power down when you want to (do both)

Depending on the length of the battle the daylight changes

You can heal your team-mate even when knocked out (only once using a senzu bean)

There should be a realistic mode where eg. Ginyu vs Cell…Ginyu Would Die in One Shot

When you fire a kamehameha it makes a hole or dent in the ground and stays there

when you hit a building it stays there and doesnt randomly dissapear

if you use a destructo disc or sumthin similar to sumone weaker than you, it will cut your oppnent up and will make them extremely weak (like when frieza got cut)

you need to have goku and vegeta as super sayains 5 & 6. also characters from gt af. put new made up characters and more blood and put gohan as super sayain 4 also you need to put more special energy moves and put goten and trunks as teenagers and adult
