Two James Bond 007 games in development at Activision. Bond actor Daniel Craig a gamer

Casino Royale on DVDActivision chairman and CEO Bobby Kotick have revealed that the publisher has two James Bond 007 games underway! At the 2007 BMO Capital Markets conference Mr. Kotick described James Bond as one of the great videogame franchises of all time, “and that really was a result of Goldeneye [on the N64].”

He also that said previous game quality had suffered “as it wasn’t a focal point” while the franchise was with Electronic Arts. It didn’t get the attention it deserved due to the publisher having such a broad portfolio, Kotick added. He said highest possible game quality will ultimately be what re-invigorates the James Bond franchise. The first of the two James Bond games will appear in 2008.

A fun tidbit is that the actor playing James Bond in the last and three upcoming 007 movies, Daniel Craig, admitted to being addicted to gaming. To quote him: “I play games. Hands up. I’m quite into ones that have a big fat story line. Halo is good because it’s shooting aliens. Those ultra-violent ones I can play for half-an-hour and then I feel dirty. GTA Vice City, for example – I think, ‘Oh yes, all right, I’ve stolen 18 cars. I’ve had enough now.’ I have to pick my time well. If my girlfriend [producer Satsuki Mitchell] sees the box then it’s all over. If I get some free time, when she goes away for the weekend, I’ll go and play some games.” 😀 — Quotes via CVG & Showbiz
