No More Heroes includes Lumines 2 song Heavenly Star
Publisher Marvelous Entertainment announced earlier this week that the Mizuguchi-produced Genki Rockets’ hit song Heavenly Star (included in the PSP game Lumines 2) will appear in No More Heroes (on Wii). In the game’s city called Santa Destroy, Heavenly Star is a major hit song and can be heard wherever you go.
The music video will also be included in-game. When you head back to main character Travis’s room, you can select “video” to view the virtual band performing their debut number.
Mizuguchi shared a few comments with Japan’s Dengeki Online, translated by IGN, that explained the collaboration. It first started back at E3 2006 as Mizuguchi and Suda 51 ate ramen one night. Suda 51 fell in love with the Heavenly Star video when Mizuguchi demoed it for him. At the time, the song was being planned for inclusion in the next Lumines game. Mizuguchi admitted that he has yet to see No More Heroes and isn’t too up on the nature of the game.
If you don’t feel like waiting on the song until it’s American and European release in February 2008. The Lumines 2 “Heavenly Star” music video song was co-written by Tetsuya Mizuguchi and Genki Rockets, and you can watch it here:
