Super Mario Galaxy for WiiSuper Mario Galaxy was just released in Japan this week. So if you want an early look at the first part of the game’s first “level/world/galaxy” enjoy these direct-footage videos. The Wii platformer’s release date in America and Canada is November 12, in Europe it’s November 16, and in Australia it’s November 29, 2007.

Join Mario as he ushers in a new era of video games, defying gravity across all the planets in the galaxy. When some creature escapes into space with Princess Peach, Mario gives chase, exploring bizarre planets all across the galaxy. Since he’s in space, Mario can perform mind-bending jumps unlike anything he’s done before. He’ll also have a wealth of new moves that are all based around tilting, pointing and shaking the Wii Remote.

Mario buzzes about a colorful world full of inviting flowers, dangerous piranha plants, and more! Watch the Busy Bee gameplay:

Find your way up this topsy-turvey planet in Mario Galaxy. Watch the Planet Hopping gameplay:

The Japanese version of Super Mario Sunshine said “Shine Get!” whenever you’d collect a Shine, so it makes sense this time the slogan for Mario’s obsessive-compulsive star collecting would be “Star Get!” I just wish they’d keep the funny wording in the English versions.

Make your way to the top of the hive and crawl across the Queen to collect your star! Watch the Queen Bee Quest gameplay:
