Capcom Japan’s representative director and president: Haruhiro Tsujimoto (Capcom) and Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan representative director and president: Ken Munekata (SPEJ) have announced coproduction of Resident Evil: Degeneration, the first full-length CG animation feature based upon the Resident Evil series of games and movies. Currently in production, it’s got plans for a terrifying release in 2008.
Resident Evil (called Biohazard in Japan), began as a hit international video game franchise created by Capcom, then made its debut on the silver screen as the live-action film Resident Evil, distributed worldwide by Sony Pictures Entertainment. Resident Evil is the first trilogy of live-action movies to have come from a video game franchise. Capcom and Sony Picture’s Japanese subsidiary SPEJ have teamed up to give birth to a CG-animated Resident Evil with groundbreaking visual effects and a brand-new story line.
Since its initial release in 1996, the Resident Evil series of games has established the “survival horror” genre and has shipped over a 33 million units worldwide, continuing to captivate its fans as a powerful property. Capcom will continue to release new games within the franchise, such as “Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles” for Wii and “Resident Evil 5″ for PS3 and Xbox 360.
The films “Resident Evil” and “Resident Evil 2: Apocalypse” have each grossed more than US$100 million at the Box Office internationally. “Resident Evil 3: Extinction” has been the biggest hit of the series in the U.S. to date, by grossing over US$48 million in just over three weeks, adding to the high performance and public support for this zombie-loving franchise.
1st of all…..this is just a place where u can drop ides. this is not skool and it isn’t a presidential speech conference. we do know how 2 right and speak, so shut the fuk up, mind ur fukin business and right ur thoughts on the movie; not on spellin’ errors and grammatically incorrect sentences u fukin ignorant prick…..hate ppl who swear they know it all….u need 2 learn how 2 mind ur business, and papa on da internet, millions of intelligent ppl right how we do.
Okay… The Resident Evil Games are my life… Yes, the Sony movies suck, they butchered the entire concept of RE. Mind you, at their own level, if you force yourself to forget they’re supposed to be about the RE series, the make an alright show.
Extinction was announced to be Sony’s last RE movie, yet here they go with making another one with Alice (and her infinite mass of clones XDD) Oh well. I’ll see it as I did the other ones, just because.
The CGI being released, I don’t know what to think. It’s Sony Productions. If they butchered the series before, they”ll do it again. Regardless, I’m going to see it, then I’ll judge. Who knows, maybe they will do a good job and make it JUST about the games.

LOL! Please, stop lying to yourself by claiming to be part of the ‘intelligent ppl’.. you’re being very delusional. ‘Skool’ is spelled ‘School’, and the biggest irony (and oft-used) was the ‘know how 2 right’.. LOL! It’s ‘write’ you moron. And sorry, pal, the imaginary ‘millions of intelligent ppl’ don’t ‘right’ how you do. I’m sure, as demonstrated in ‘Idiocracy’, you’d happen to find the most average person to be a genius based on your level of intelligence. Ha! And let me also get this straight: The only places worthy of demonstrating even the simplest of grammar and spelling usage is school and presidential conferences? Everything else is fair game for stupidity? You’re only contributing to the decline of intelligence on this globe. Remember that when you feel typing like a complete neanderthal is a perfectly ok representation of who you are. What a slughead.
I agree, Wesker. People can rant all they like, but unintelligent people, I spose it’s not their fault, even if they become blind with rage easily.
Simply put, some people deserve to contract the T-Virus when the outbreak happens. XDD

Heh, why wait for the T-Virus? Just send in Hunk’s team to do the job. Better yet, get the chopper to drop a Mr. X in and let the fun begin!
To me this is a true resident evil movie.
I personally hated the live action movies. I would of liked the movies if they didn’t have the title Resident Evil on it. HELL I would of liked the movies if they didn’t put ANY characters in the games in it. That way they could of made it seem it was like a side story.
Fun Fact, the original screenplay of the live action RE movie had Chris and Jill.

I am so excited about Resident Evil Degeneration!!!!!
That’s why I liked the first one, because they made up their own prequel to the series and it simply connected the Spencer Estate to the Underground facility from RE2 and it worked. Then Zero came out and debunked all of that, unfortunately. I dunno, as much as I like the giant leech monster at the end, I’d have to choose the ‘prequel’ with Milla over the prequel with the really lame voice acted old man behind it all. What was with that voice?? I digress.
As for Romero’s script, he had the characters, but they were practically name only. He must have thought Chris Redfield was related to Johnny Redcorn, because he made him some Native American. I’m glad Romero didn’t get to helm it, sure the premises of his movies are interesting and sure he reinvented the zombie genre, but I’ve grown to like his movies less and less as I get older. The characters and dialogue stink to high heaven. I digress, yet again.
I am looking forward to this one, tho! Should be fun!
Well, a few things to say. And mainly to the responses about the cg movie.
First off, I AM a true fan of the games, and thought the movies , for the most part, were pretty good. GET OFF IT people, the movies are a whole seperate thing. To think a movie is horrible JUST BECUASE it didnt follow the game is stupidity. Look at how many movies dont follow the books that came before it, yet the movie was made after the book, that doesnt make it a horrible movie, just a little different. A movie coming out after a book just puts a new perspective on the book, movies and games are the same.
Secondly, one of you said that finally there will be a movie about the game the way capcom intended it to be. Well, either capcom like their ideas or they were in it just for the money since the producing company had to get rights from capcom to make the movies. So, i guess either way anyone that is a “true fan” according to this imbeciles statement should just stop playing the games since they are either a sell out or aparently have no vision of what their movies should be.
Me personally, i think the movies were good, only a narrow minded person would think that a movie is terrible just because it doesnt follow its game.
I LOVE the games, the movies AND will DEFINATLEY get the cg. come on , its resident evil, OF COURSE well all buy it. lol
I FIND ALL OF YOUR COMMENTS TO BE PRETTY ENTERTAINING. I LOVE THE RE GAMES. I’VE READ EVERY BOOK. AND I’VE SEEN EVERY MOVIE. ITS TRUE, THE MOVIES MIGHT HAVE BEEN LACKING A LOT OF INFORMATION, BUT NON-GAMERS SEEM TO LIKE IT. I, TOO WAS DISSAPOINTED WHEN THE FIRST RE FILM CAME OUT. I EXPECTED SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.
BUT BEING THE RE FAN THAT I AM, I STILL PURCHASED ALL OF THE MOVIES. I LEARNED EVERYTHING THERE WAS TO KNOW ABOUT BOTH OF THESE RE VERSIONS. I ALWAYS WANTED AN ANIMATED FILM OF RE TO COME OUT. I THOUGHT, HEY IF THE GAMES SCARE THE CRAP OUT OF ME, WHY WOULDN’T AN ANIMATED FILM? I WAS SO EXCITED WHEN I FIRST HEARD OF THIS CGI FILM. I WILL BE WAITING ANXIOUSLY FOR IT’S RELEASE.
