Capcom Japan’s representative director and president: Haruhiro Tsujimoto (Capcom) and Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan representative director and president: Ken Munekata (SPEJ) have announced coproduction of Resident Evil: Degeneration, the first full-length CG animation feature based upon the Resident Evil series of games and movies. Currently in production, it’s got plans for a terrifying release in 2008.
Resident Evil (called Biohazard in Japan), began as a hit international video game franchise created by Capcom, then made its debut on the silver screen as the live-action film Resident Evil, distributed worldwide by Sony Pictures Entertainment. Resident Evil is the first trilogy of live-action movies to have come from a video game franchise. Capcom and Sony Picture’s Japanese subsidiary SPEJ have teamed up to give birth to a CG-animated Resident Evil with groundbreaking visual effects and a brand-new story line.
Since its initial release in 1996, the Resident Evil series of games has established the “survival horror” genre and has shipped over a 33 million units worldwide, continuing to captivate its fans as a powerful property. Capcom will continue to release new games within the franchise, such as “Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles” for Wii and “Resident Evil 5″ for PS3 and Xbox 360.
The films “Resident Evil” and “Resident Evil 2: Apocalypse” have each grossed more than US$100 million at the Box Office internationally. “Resident Evil 3: Extinction” has been the biggest hit of the series in the U.S. to date, by grossing over US$48 million in just over three weeks, adding to the high performance and public support for this zombie-loving franchise.
OK, get a clue ALL the movies so far had very little to do with the game that made Resident Evil possible. CGI is the only possible way to fix the mess that the CRAP-ON-A STICK movies made of the franchise. I Welcome Leon and Clare, and will see it opening day. Anyonw who liked the 3 movies is a comlete MORON and apparently never played any of the GAMES!
Okay, so what if the movies had little to do with the game. They just made it so it would be more appealing to a larger audience, doens’t mean it sucks. I played all the games, read the books and watched the hollwood movies, does that really make me a moron? This new CGI is gunna kick some ass, but i’m not being all biased about either of the two seperate films. So either you like the resident evil movie with alice, or you don’t. No reason to call other people dumb for liking it. XP
Dude they mess up RE china does not know how 2 make movies yea beowulf was but that anit video games like RE and does not have 3 real movies they just made a game 4 it and they only have 1 real movie dis is so gay I am really piss off it is da gayest thing dat ever happen
to all the people that say the movies with alice suck are f*cking morons and to say that people that like those movies dont like the games are dumb ass’s I’ve played atleast 90% of the re games considering the game systems i have and witch ones are avaliable. to fans of the movie and games you are the true fans for the fact that you dont let movies ruin what you really like about RE
p.s. cant wait for the cgi movie it should be badass
i just found out about movie today to guys saying they like the movie i have no problem i only liked 2 because it took place in raccoon city and because of carlos i hated the third cause they killed many of the good guys. and for this cgi movie that i just found out about IT WILL RULEEEEEEEEE!!!! Leon , Claire KICK SOME F#&%ING A$$ and may the make many more for those who got late in the game series like prequels (resident evil 0 and beyond) so that the graphics of the past come to the future and we see the story as it should be both on console and film
This is going to be f*cking awsome. this will most likely have nothing to do with the alice series. and this will be a fantastic treat for the gamers who actually made this WHOLE ZOMBIE thing popular. personally everyone who hates or dislikes CGI for some reason you can all f*ck off cause it takes 10 x longer to make a CGI film then it does a real one.
honestly im a big fan of the resident evil games and i thought da movies were OK on there own level, but they really didnt have nothing 2 do with da games. The 3rd movie (why da fu*k did they make her move sh*t with her mind dat never happened in the games)..datz da disappointment. So, im looking forward to da animation…I hope in da future sum1 might remake da RE movie into da horror it was supposes to be. Instead of all da Jet li martial ats combat stuff.
I liked didnt like the movie but i love the RE games and i think the movie genre is dead now so they need a fresh start by making this new RE movie and im happy tht Leon is going to be in this new movie so i cant wait till this one comes out
Wow! If these are the true voices of the Resident Evil fanbase, count me out! Never before have I seen such rampant stupidity and abhorrent run-on sentences. Do you people not know how to speak properly? You guys need to be beat into submission by the Education Police. Sure, playing video games and watching movies are great, I certainly enjoy them, but perhaps you should all step away from the electronics for a while until you have mastered how to spell and speak properly. You’re all dumbasses right now for that simple fact alone. Sheesh, each day ‘Idiocracy’ becomes more and more of a reality.
I have to agree that spelling and speaking properly does present a more intelligent image of oneself, and makes it easier for people to understand what you say or type.
Resorting to name calling and/or expletives in any argument or statement, does not portray this image or make one views right and the others wrong.
Now then…. I loved the games.
I loved the movies. I can just treat them as either an alternate universe, or a separate story in the canon.
And I will definitely get this new cgi movie when it comes out on dvd.
