King Dedede joins Super Smash Bros. Brawl cast!

Kirby’s nemesis King Dedede has joined the Super Smash Bros. Brawl cast! Much to the delight and surprise of Kirby fans the world-over!

The news of this new challenger will bring tears to the eyes of any fan of the Kirby games who have battled this boss character through dozens of titles every since his first appearance in Kirby’s Dreamland on the original Game Boy in 1992. He was a much requested character for Super Smash Bros. Melee but didn’t make the cut, and ever-since fans have been clamoring for him to make his presence known in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, so it’s great to finally have King Dedede confirmed as a playable character! This newest announcement follows the announcement of Sonic in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as well as Lucas being in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, hailing from the Japan-only Mother 3.

King Dedede joins the “heavyweight” Brawl line-up which also includes characters like Donkey Kong and Bowser. These guys are slow but very powerful. King Dedede himself comes equipped with his smashing hammer, a big belly and most likely the ability to suck in and spit out his foes at damaging speed, as you’d come to expect after fighting him in the Kirby platformers.

The addition of King Dedede raises the number of characters from the Kirby universe to three, the others being Kirby himself, and Meta Knight. Hopefully Nintendo will continue to pile the characters on and expand on other Nintendo universes that are lacking playable Smash characters, like F-Zero. And where the heck is TOAD!!!!!!! He must be playable or I’ll cry!
