Today Nintendo of Europe (and Australia) added new classic games to the popular Wii Shop Channel. The games went live at midnight CET. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at stores like Amazon UK (Card).
PAL regions are the first to get Castlevania II, where Drac is back! And blast off with the first TurboDuo (TurboGrafx-CD) title Gate of Thunder for Virtual Console and a new NEOGEO game World Heroes. We’ve included videos of all games for nostalgia’s sake or so you can see if it’s for you. This week’s new games are:
In Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest for NES (priced 500 Wii Points = €5 / £3.75 / AU$7.50), vampire hunter Simon Belmont must track down and destroy Dracula’s remains in order to save himself from a deadly curse. Castlevania II expands on its predecessor with the addition of new adventure elements and also a day and night system that means tougher enemies when the sun goes down!
Combining the power of an enhanced Turbografx16 console and a CD-ROM drive, the TurboDuo (TurboGrafx-CD) hit the United States in 1992, packed-in with one of the defining side-scrolling shooters of the era: Gate of Thunder (priced 600 Wii Points = €6 / £4.50 / AU$9). Now, thanks to Virtual Console, Gate of Thunder is back, complete with its awesome CD-quality soundtrack that really gets you rocking along to the non-stop shoot ‘em up action!
NEOGEO’s World Heroes
hit Virtual Console (priced 900 Wii Points = €9 / £9.75 / AU$13.50). If you could take the greatest warriors from history and pit them against each other, who would win? NEOGEO beat ‘em up World Heroes, out now on Virtual Console, gives you the chance to do just that. Huge sprites, outrageous special moves (like Rasputin’s giant hands and feet!) and eight unique fighters make this 1992 brawler a cult classic.
