Rygar swings to Wii in Rygar: The Battle of Argus. Preview and video shows epic action aplenty
Rygar is coming to the Nintendo Wii in Rygar: The Battle of Argus! From the looks of it, the game is an updated version of “Rygar: The Legendary Adventure“. The Wii version will add all-new Wiimote gesture based controls to change up how the game is played.
Previously it was announced that Rygar: The Battle of Argus would include new characters and settings, basically refreshing the series but the trailer looks similar to what we’ve seen before on the PS2.
Rygar was originally an arcade action game where the main character (named Rygar, where the title comes from) has a unique disc-shaped weapon called the “diskarmor”. Swinging it, he can destroy enemies and swing across areas. He can’t jump, and must use his diskarmor instead, giving the game a unique feel. The NES version of the game used the same character and weapons but instead was also an open-ended adventure game similar to Metroid where you had to find and use power-ups and items to progress.
The PS2 version was critically acclaimed and it brought the series to modern times in an action adventure similar to games like Devil May Cry or God of War. And of course Rygar was given tons of new moves. You could swing enemies around and throw them, and even destroy parts of the environment. Your diskarmor could be upgraded with new abilities and lots of unlockables could be earned in the game. And now Wii owners and gamers who didn’t get to experience Rygar’s rebirth will have a chance with the new Wii version.
Game Features:
Grab your Diskarmor and swing into action on the Nintendo Wii as the legendary warrior, Rygar! Immerse yourself in Greco-Roman mythology as you journey through the sundered Island of Argus. Intuitive use of the Wii remote allows you to deftly and effectively control the use of the powerful Diskarmor to destroy enemies and maneuver on, around, over, and under obstacles to save Princess Harmonia!
