Oboro Muramasa Youtouden action-RPG Wii preview. Video trailer reveals beautiful side-scroller
Oboro Muramasa Youtouden is an upcoming side-scrolling action RPG for Wii developed by Vanillaware and published in Japan by Marvelous Interactive. Generally Atlus has published Vanillaware games in the US so there is a good chance the game could come over but it is not a sure thing and hasn’t been announced.
So what exactly is Oboro Muramasa Youtouden you ask? The game is developed by the same team that blessed the world with Odin Sphere, which was a critically acclaimed, very unique action RPG released in May (US) on the PS2 (Odin Sphere itself is actually the follow-up to a Dreamcast RPG called Princess Crown).
Not a lot is known about Oboro, but the game is said to have two control schemes, one is for casual players and will likely involve motion or gesture control using the Wii Remote and Nunchuck, while a more hardcore control method will also be available (maybe using the Classic or GameCube controller?). Graphically the game looks stunning, and uses the same kind of 2D art style as Odin Sphere, but will be inspired by Japanese culture instead of Norse Mythology.
Two playable characters have been shown so far. A girl character and a boy character. The girl named Momohime wears a kimono and wields a katana sword. The boy is an amnesiac ninja and can be seen in most of the screenshots.
