Metal Slug 7 is a DS-exclusive
SNK Playmore has announced it will release Metal Slug 7 for the Nintendo DS. The latest mission in the 2D-sidescrolling shooter series will be exclusive to the DS handheld, reports reports Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu.
The game’s goal will be the same as always. Either alone or with a friend in co-op, you shoot at a continual stream of enemies in order to reach the end of a level. In the levels you’ll collect weapons upgrades and “metal slug” vehicles that can be used not only as weapons but also as added defense. Once at the end you’ll face a huge boss. In Metal Slug 7 a new “combat school” mode will be added, where you’ll take on various missions and earn ranks as you complete them.

Yeah between this and Contra 4 the DS is becoming THE place to be for new-school editions of classic action games.
