SNK Playmore USA announced that classic Neo Geo arcade games will be joining the Genesis, Turbografx-16, NES, SNES, and N64 systems on the Wii’s Virtual Console game download service soon. Games mentioned included Fatal Fury, World Heroes and Art of Fighting, with pricing set at 900 Wii Points (that’s $9 dollars). Quite a deal, considering most of those games cost hundreds of dollars on cartridge.
The SNK Playmore USA president, Ben Herman, said back in April this year that the company is aiming for worldwide releases at around the same time. They’ll release the two or more games a month from their 120 different Neo Geo games library. But instead of releasing games that recently received remakes, like Metal Slug Anthology on Wii, they want to bring out games that haven’t been available for a while to be more attractive to users. So you won’t see King of Fighters ‘94 in the first month.
Tokyo-based D4Enterprise will be handling the releases, with more promised to be announced “in the coming months,” quotes 1UP.
