Master Chief wax statue on display at Vegas Madame Tussauds museum

Master Chief Wax Statue
Madame Tussauds has finally immortalized Halo’s Master Chief, who is the first video game character to be displayed in the wax museum’s 250-year history (or so they say. Is it just me or does anyone else remember there being a Mario wax statue . . . maybe I’m getting it confused with some other place . . . I’m not exactly an expert on wax . . . or museums, much less wax museums).

The first photo-op of a person taken with the intricately detailed Master Chief (wearing Halo 3 armor I might add) statue was by Pete Wentz of the insanely popular band Fall Out Boy. The Master Chief statue will only be displayed at Madame Tussauds in Las Vegas (located near the Venetian Casino), although there is a chance it could go on loan to other locations, but it’s permanent home will remain in Las Vegas.

The Master Chief statue was created in London first, then flown to Vegas for it’s big reveal. It stands 7 feet and 2 inches tall and weighs 275 pounds. It took ten artists over 892 hours to finish it, and the statue actually isn’t made out of wax, but rather clay . . . 1,000 pounds of it! Naturally, Microsoft will be holding a Halo 3 launch event at the Vegas location of the statue, although details are still being worked out. You can currently find the statue on display along with plenty of other Halo merchandise. - Via Joystiq
