God of War: Chains of Olympus release date March 4, 2008. Demos this year
God of War: Chains of Olympus has been given a final release date of March 4th, 2008 for the PSP incarnation (I assume that’s the US date), this continues the trend of the game’s developer, Ready at Dawn, releasing God of War games in March, as it has done with the previous two console titles.
A special UMD demo will be shipped out to those that signed up for it via the game’s official site later this month, or early next. The special disc includes a portion of playable levels and additional content that includes behind-the-scenes footage of it’s development at the Ready at Dawn studios. For those that did not get a chance to order the special edition disc, a regular edition containing just the playable demo will be released later in the year. It’s unclear though gamers who missed out on the special disc will have another chance to get a hold of it, but don’t hold your breath.
No price or rating for God of War: Chains of Olympus has been revealed yet, but you can bet it’ll receive an M for Mature rating like all the other God of War titles, given it’s violent nature and adult subject matter. As always, players will control the fierce battle-hardened Spartan Kratos in a third-person action adventure. The storyline takes place between the first and second God of War games and sees Kratos tracking down a number of monsters in the fantastical version of ancient Greece.
Check out this behind-the-scenes look at the game from E3 2007 to tide you over until the demo hits. “Best game for PSP” they say, and with graphics and gameplay so close to it’s console brethren, I’m definitely not challenging that assertion.
