New Street Fighter movie by Andrzej Bartkowiak, Doom-film director

A brand new Street Fighter movie is in the works! It is being directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak (Romeo Must Die, Cradle 2 tha Grave), who is infamous among gamers for his adaptation of Doom the movie, which hit theaters in the summer of 2005, to mild success and poor reviews.

Now, in the tradition of director’s who love to keep making game movies, regardless of their quality (ala Resident Evil director Paul W. S. Anderson and Uwe Boll, who needs no introduction), as he is set to adapt an all-new movie based on the classic fighting game Street Fighter.

You’ll remember that a horrible Street Fighter movie was released way back in 1994 (starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and Raul Julia), but now in year 2007, Capcom is partially financing this new Street Fighter flicks as part of it’s effort to branch into Western media. Now let’s all PRAY that this movie somehow turns out good and faithful to the games. — Via GameSpot

Well it may be because I was just nine back when the Street Fighter movie came out, or because I was a huge fan of Street Fighter games, but I can’t say the movie sucked. It was OK, one of the first movies based on video games so I think you could cut it some slack.

I don’t think another Street Fighter film would be as welcome these days, it’s really not that popular anymore

That’s what you’d think Spooky, but the Xbox Live remake of the classic Street Fighter game was one of the best-selling downloadable games on Xbox 360. So if they were to release a new game and this movie, I’m sure it would have an audience.

Then again, try and rewatch the Street Fighter movie and I might be very very wrong, maybe my childhood memories are also clouded by nostalgia.

STREET FIGHTER SCRIPT REWRITE.

Justin Marks is rewriting the Street Fighter
movie and Andrzej Bartkowiak will be the director,The story was meant to be based on Chun Li which it was a mistake so Marks
has polish the script and the story will based on Ryu and Ken.
Hyde Park and Capcom will be producing the film and 20th Century Fox will release the film.
